Antonian College Preparatory High School Mrs. Woods Physics • Conceptual Physics engages students with analogies and imagery from real‐world situations to build a strong conceptual understanding of physical principles ranging from classical mechanics to modern physics. With this strong conceptual foundation, students are better equipped to understand the equations and formulas of physics, and to make connections between the concepts of physics and their everyday world. About me • Graduated from Uvalde High School in 1973 • My senior year, we won state in 3A football • Attended Southwest Texas Jr. College in Uvalde for two years after graduation • Received my Associate in Arts Degree in Biology and Chemistry College Attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas majoring in Biology and Chemistry Served as assistant editor of “The Megaphone,” the college newspaper Colleges Graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology; minor in Chemistry In 1981, I started “The Paisano,” and served as its first managing editor and then editor. We put the newspaper together out of my apartment near UTSA. Graduate School Received a Master of Arts Degree in 2006 in Multidisciplinary Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) Family • • • • • Husband, Gordon, who is self-employed as a real estate consultant. Parents still live in Uvalde Brother, Noe, who is the Director of Communications and Research Advancement at UTSA One niece, Vanessa, who graduated from Smithson Valley High School in 2006 and lives and works in Austin One nephew, Noe Justin, who graduated from Plano High School in 2011 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He is currently stationed at Fort Riley, 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery and is scheduled to deploy to Camp Casey in South Korea in November 2014. I also did robotics. I taught AP Physics, physics, AP Chemistry and chemistry at Holy Cross High School from 2002-2008. I was also the Robotics sponsor at Holy Cross. When you come into the classroom, bring only your notebook. You will open your notebook to the page where your homework is and, while you are working on your daily warmup, I will check your homework. You will either receive a stamp that says, “Good Work” or a stamp that says, “Incomplete.” Every Friday you will staple your homework assignments and the Daily Warm-Ups sheet together and turn them in as a package.
