Unit 1: A Child’s World: How
Young Children Learn
“ The interaction between the adult
and the child, for Vygotsky, is like
a dance – the child leads and the
adult follows, always closely in
tune with the child’s actions.”
A Child’s World of
Cause and Effect

The relationship between actions and
its outcome.
– How does play and exploration
enhance a child’s learning and
development?
– How will you create a learning
environment that nurtures learning
and development?
Sem. DQ#2

Describe a scenario in which a
young child might demonstrate an
understanding of basic
mathematics concepts such as
patterns, sorting, classifying, and
rational counting.
Sem. DQ#3:

If you were to observe a young
child engaging in math skills such
as patterns, sorting, classifying,
or rational counting, what would
you do if you noticed the young
child having difficulty with the
task? How would you encourage
the child to take a more effective
approach?
