Class Notebook
Directions:
 Each student will be assigned one day to take detailed class notes of each class activity, drill
or game. Be sure to note the formation of the class, cues used, and teaching points in your
description. Follow the format shown below.
 If we do a drill that is from the textbook, simply reference the book and the page it is on.
There is no need to write it up.
 Once your write-up is complete, bring it to Dr. Coleman for a final check before posting it in
the shared internet folder.
 Timeline: Monday class – check in with instructor by Wed., post by next Monday
Wednesday class – check in with instructor by Mon., post by next Wed.
 These handouts should be kept in a class binder along with any other class handouts.

Name of Activity: Provide a name for all class activities and games.
Equipment: List all equipment needed to participate in the activity. Indicate the amount of
equipment needed (cones, poly spots, etc.). If all students would need equipment, simply
write, “one per student”. For example in a tennis activity, you may write that each student
needs a racket. For a golf activity, you may write that each pair of students needs a particular
club.
Formation and Description: Use enough detail so that another physical educator could follow
these activities. Write clearly and concisely. Read your description and make sure that it flows
in the way the activity is done. Also indicate the formation needed for the activity.
Diagram (as needed): The description of many activities is enhanced with a diagram. Provide a
computer generated diagram that clearly shows placement of equipment and students, flow of
the activity and boundaries.
Variations: You may add possible variations to the game, drill or activity
