Old design
Information sparse. Not very clear. If
this is a presentation it needs some
visuals
Glogster has not bee used in any work
before, so it is being used here for visual.
More details. Clearer details
Redesigned content by
The paper titled Training document for dynamic instructional design, was not very dynamic.
As a training document, it has no illustrations to hold the visual learner’s attention or to spark
ideas. It was boring. Major adjustments were made.. .
Step 1: Know the learner
(As in anything the people first and the process will follow.)

This is a key step know the learner. Nothing can be designed without that issue
being address first.

Design towards the student’s strengths, yet work on improving their weaknesses.

Gather their interests with a simple assessment for the multiple intelligences.

Each new year the teacher needs to evaluate the student and not rely on past
comments from previous teachers. They may have a bias. Also, the students may
have discovered something new that has changed their MI.

The student should keep their own e-portfolio to follow them through school. The
student takes accountability and it is a good tool to implement.


Consider the demographic of each student and work it into their curriculum. What
are the cultural differences that will improve their learning.

Step 2: Make the objectives clear

The outcomes must be concise and clear to the students. There should be no doubt
in their minds what is expected of them. Rubrics will be an asset to the
assignments.

How will the performance be measured? What type of assessment to use to get the
most accurate results. Will the progress be measured along the way with a
dashboard?

This is the phase that will start to empower the student The student will start to
experience a feeling of autonomy with their studies. That will create a new sense
of self-motivation.

Use Bloom’s Taxonomy here too especially the critical thinking hand out to teach
the students how to ask questions as well as to get them to question more.
Step 3: Create an interesting learning environment

What needs to happen in the classroom for the environment to work for all the
students?

Since the 1892 looking classroom is still around and sterile how about a bean bag
center? Why not desks in small circles for peer studying.

Will the student work better in a group or alone in a quiet spot? The student needs
to give that feedback or notice if a student’s anxiety flares up.

How does the student prefer to work?


How will the learning experience be made more active rather than passive?
Would the mini-pods of desks help by pairing the weakest and the strongest
students in each pod. Will the students change pods with the change of subjects?

Ask students input on class configuration.
Step 4: Teaching and learning strategies

What types of teaching methods will be deployed with the student? Peer tutoring
and teaching used will open up dialog in the classroom among students who may
not have socialized before. This would teach empathy and tolerance beside the
curriculum.

Define the technology, materials or media that will work best with the subject
matter. The students can give input to this but must be able to justify their reason
for their choice.

What ways can the experience be more active and interactive for the student?
Are their limitations self-imposed by the students or by the way the work is set
up. Ask the students how they would like it to be changed

What tools will the teacher need to evaluate the student’s progress? Would this be
a dashboard , an assessment or a test?
Step 5: Select technology tools

Bloom’s Taxonomy with MOOCs could also be used here.

What technologies will engage the student? Have the students brainstorm on this
subject. The teacher should not shy away from a technology because they do not
know how to use it. Have the students teach the teacher that skill. The more the
teacher learn the better they can service the students.


It will be the teacher’s job to regulate the usage and keep the students safe.
Therefore the teacher must learn the pros and cons of the technology tools.
Step 6: Evaluate performance

Speed o meter style dashboard to track real time outcomes. Not only will the
student monitor their progress in real time but so can the teacher.

Behind the a virtual wall of the dashboard, would be graphs for just the teacher’s
eyes which will show different levels of improvement on a weekly basis. The
beauty of this system it can also be compare to the year before with visible
changes no matter how small.. .

If the student is not moving forward, revise plan quickly.
In order for instruction to be dynamic it has to be time sensitive and create urgent
feedback loop. This is so the student will see their own improvement. They can always
be improving and competing against themselves to be better than they were yesterday.. If
time lags, in providing that critical feedback, the student loses confidence in their work.
Studying becomes scary and tedious. Open and timely communication is critical between
student and teacher in order to keep learning dynamic.
