Plant Anatomy Assessment
Objective: After completing this assignment you should be able to identify the
major plant structures. You should also be able to explain how various structures
differ on different organisms in order to make them adapted for different
environments.
Directions:
1) Background Research. Research one plant native to the following
environments/ecosystems. Desert, Tropical Rain forest, wetland, Tundra, and one
other of your choosing.

2) Create a model of a theoretical plant. This plant should be adapted for a specific
environment of your choosing. This environment could include things like a desert,
tundra, mountainous. This model should include the following plant structures.
Stems
Roots
Leaves
Internal and external structures for each of these parts
At least one modified anatomy structure such as a bulb, tuber or thorn.
Leaf arrangement
Leaf attachment
Flower that has a specific pollinator
Specific Pollinator
3) Create an environment in which the plant is from including weather, climate,
rainfall, soil type, temperature, animals sun exposure, ect…
4) Write an Explaination of your plant and why the anatomy that it has fits the
environment in which it lives.
5) Evaluate at least 5 plants that your classmates and explain what type of
environment that this plant might live in.
