Course Goals:
 Develop a deep understanding of major events, people, trends, & eras important to U.S. history while memorizing key facts
 Demonstrate (both verbally and in writing) a mastery of source analysis, synthesis, and evaluation skills
 Pursue a mastery of research, writing, presentation, and test-taking techniques
 Develop and demonstrate highly refined time-management and interpersonal skills

Assessment & Grading:
 Daily classwork/participation – 15 percent
 Quizzes – 25 percent
A = 93.0 to 100%
A- = 90.0 to 92.99%
B+ = 87.0 to 89.99%
B = 83.0 to 86.99%
B- = 80.0 to 82.99%
C+ = 77.0 to 79.99%


Tests and Projects – 45 percent
Term Final Exam – 15 percent
C = 73.0 to 76.99%
C- = 70.0 to 72.99%
D+ = 67.0 to 69.99%
D = 63.0 to 66.99%
D- = 60.0 to 62.99%
F = 0 to 59.99%
Textbook Reminder:
Your book is America: A Narrative History, 8th Edition by George Brown Tindall and David Shi. These books are currently in
excellent condition and should be returned as such. Mild damage will cost $15-25; severe damage or a lost book will cost $95.
