Characteristics and demographics of patients presenting with ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae infections: a
retrospective review of community hospital patients.

Examined data of all ESBL positive isolates collected at Cooley Dickinson Hospital’s microbiology
department during 2014 as well as the corresponding patient data. Patient data was compiled to assess
similarities in an effort to aid clinicians in identifying cases in which the use of a carbapenem antibiotic is
warranted. Isolate data, identified organism and MICs, was compiled to assess the local bacterial
resistance patterns. Plan to continue project and expand database by obtaining and analyzing the
aforementioned information from the years of 2013 and 2015.

Spear-headed development of a hospital-wide protocol for the prevention and treatment of delirium in
the ICU. Examined other hospital protocols and created a mock hospital protocol to act as a reference
while in the process of establishing a new, active protocol. Collaborated with head critical care nurse to
provide nursing education classes about delirium and the CAM-ICU.
