+ Editorial Assistance Program A unique copyediting service in a unique organization + Services provided at the “Editorial Assistance Program” include: In-person copy editing In-person writing consultation Remote copy-editing + In-person copy editing Graduate students bring their work to our editors to assist and more efficiently locate: Grammar and syntax errors Citation assistance (such as: APA, MLA, Chicago) Formatting assistance (both in relation to the style of the student’s discipline and the Graduate School’s requirements for submitting a thesis or dissertation for graduation) + In-person writing consultation Because each graduate student has different needs, the “Editorial Assistance Program” also makes time for meetings that are more reflective of a traditional writing center. These include discussion about: Argument and Evidence (such as how these elements of writing work together to make a logically sound paper) Organization (such as paragraphing and sentence order) Clarity (such as argument’s presentation throughout the paper) + Remote copy-editing This is the service most often used by graduate students, so much so that, along with an increase of other services, students voted to increase fees for the GSA in 2011 in order to add another editor to the service. Line editing of a paper, including grammar and syntax errors Professional editing queries (in the form of “Comments” and “Track Changes” Personalized cover letter (in the form of an email or longer comment) to summarize the changes made by the editor Open channel over email between students and their student editors (should students have follow-up questions or concerns).
