2nd 9 Weeks
Students will be assigned a homework reading each week. They will be
responsible for reading the article and fully responding to the questions. Each
week’s assignment is worth 15 points. Points will be combined at the end of the
nine weeks for one grade.
Students will read the myth, Pandora’s Box. Then they will create a modern day
Pandora’s Box to present to the class. The rubric will be sent home November 5,
2014. Presentations are due November 18.
Students will complete a job application for a Greek God of their choice. They will
need to research their god/goddess to complete the information. Completed
applications will be due December 4, 2014. Directions will go home October 27,
2014.
Students are responsible for collecting 20 vocabulary words from their
reading/listening. Each student has a vocabulary criteria list of essentials. This
assignment is the student’s responsibility. Ten vocabulary words will be due on
Thursday, November 13th. The last ten vocabulary words will be due on Friday,
December 12th. (Ten points will be deducted for each day after the due date.)
Book presentations are due on or before December 15, 2014. These are not
written reports. Students are required to present a book of their choice in a
creative way including a visual aid (visual aids should be more than a summary
adhered to a poster board; students may video, dress as the character and
present through the character’s point of view, Prezi, power points, etc…).
Students have seen model presentations. Presentations should include but are
not limited to: title, author, genre, brief retelling (not details), reason student
recommends book, other books by author, etc. A detailed rubric with suggestions
will be in the students’ binders. (Ten points will be deducted for each day after
the due date.)
