Sex & Gender Poster Project
Now that we have watched the documentaries Killing Us Softly 4 and Tough Guise 2, as well as read through
the article ________, you are now tasked to create a comprehensive poster collage highlighting the gender roles
imposed, and the deviations of those, on either the female sex or the male sex in our culture. It is up to you which
gender you choose to focus on. You may work alone or in groups of 2-3. In addition to the poster, you will write a
short, 1-page reflection, explaining the gender roles and cultural expectations attached to biological sex, and you’re
personal attachment, philosophy, and beliefs towards the issues that arise in the discussion of gender (think of how
gender roles are represented or broken down in the media you consume: music videos, TV shows, movies, ad
campaigns of your favorite brands, etc). Remember, we’re talking big, overarching picture! The poster is worth 20
points and the 1-page reflection is worth 24 points.
