The Human Resources Generalist partners with campus leaders to address a variety of workplace issues
in a way which provides tangible HR value. This position is customer facing and maintains a high level of
customer satisfaction. This role is a key member of the campus HR team and will provide services across
multiple human resources functions including: employee relations, organizational development, talent
management and acquisition and total rewards. This position will include Americans with Disabilities Act
interactive process and workplace investigations to include workplace violence. The incumbent will
provide guidance and advice on HR related issues. This position reports to the Director of Human
Resources and operates with discretion within established guidelines. Coordinates work extensively with
other members of the Human Resources Centers of Excellence.
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:














Supports campus Human Resources team in delivery and implementation of customer facing
business and people solutions in conjunction with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs).
Engages in the interactive ADA process with all employee to evaluate requests for disabilityrelated worksite and job-related accommodations.
Review medical documentation in order to determine eligibility for required disability-related
accommodations.
Researches, evaluates, and remains aware of best practices and trends in employment-related
disability solutions.
Investigates workplace complaints such as workplace violence to ensure compliance with UNT
policy, and/or federal, state or local laws. Completes investigations and reports within specific
time requirements and reports findings and conclusions to appropriate officials.
Provides detailed information to staff regarding HR policies and procedures.
Provides coordination for mediation, recognition, and other campus specific programs.
Provides input and feedback that enhances the delivery of existing programs including research
on best practices.
Prepare and facilitates training and informational sessions which may include sessions related to
ADA and workplace violence.
Queries and compiles human resources reports.
Represents campus HR on various committees, work groups, and projects may include
participation in any programs related to the Drug Free Schools & Communities Act, Clery
requirements, Campus Carry, and campus-wide ADA committee.
Develops employee and manager guides for HR processes.
Supports employee recognition programs and the development of a high-performance culture.
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and
objective investigations.



Contributes to the continuous process improvement of HR programs, policies, procedures and
systems.
Develops and maintains professional knowledge in Human Resources.
Observes safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed and work supervised.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of progressively responsible experience in Human
Resources or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the
following knowledge, skills and abilities:










Demonstrated investigation skills.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state rules and regulations including ADA and ADAAA.
Working knowledge of MS Office suite.
Skill in using office computer information systems to organize, store, manipulate and retrieve
data.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations orally and in writing.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple assignments.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, with frequently changing priorities.
Focused on providing a high level of customer service and follow-through.
Preferred Qualifications:



PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP Certification.
Experience working with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management System.
Proficient in applying conflict resolution skills and mediation techniques.
