Gallery Approver Guide

Purpose
• Thank you for your willingness to become a
Project 10 ArtThread Gallery Approver—you are
helping the approval process run smoothly!
• This Gallery Approver Guide has been created to
assist you in determining which art should be
approved, declined, or may merit further review
by Project 10 Regional Transition Representatives
(RTRs).

Steps in the Approval Process
1. Review the work of art for approval.
2. Review the title of the work of art.
3. Review any comment the artist may have
added.
 If the approver is comfortable with all three
of the above, then the work of art should be
approved for display on the Project 10
Gallery.

Red Flags for Gallery Approvers
• Personally identifying information and
photographs
• Nudity
• Sexual references
• Inappropriate/offensive language
• Violence
• Gang references

Personally Identifying Information
and Photographs
• In order to respect students’, and other
individuals’ confidentiality, personally
identifying information and
photographs are prohibited and must
not be approved for the Project 10
ArtThread website.

Nudity
• Although nudity is common in
many works of art, nudity is
prohibited and must not be
approved for the Project 10
Gallery.

Sexual references
• Art with sexual connotations is
prohibited and must not be
approved.
• Ask the question:
Would this art be appropriate to display
in a school?...

approved.

Inappropriate/offensive language
• When words are used inappropriately, the art
must not be approved.

• Violence depicted in art is
prohibited and must not be
approved (e.g., fighting,
weapons, etc.).

Be on the alert for:
• Misspelled words
• Letters written backwards
• Catch phrases, such as “Boyz”
• Common pictures with questionable
modifications (pyramids, crowns, heart with
wings, Star of David, etc.), or initials

prohibited and must not be approved
