Two equations that represent two different
relationships with respect to the same two
unknown variables
. Ex: set up two different equations to model
the two different relations:
 The cost to begin production on a band’s CD is
$1500. Each CD costs $4 to produce and will sell
for $10 each. The band wants to know how many
CDs they will have to sell to earn a profit

Let x = number of cds
Y = 10x
EXPENSES


Let x = number of cds
Y = 1500 + 4x

Y = 10x

Y = 1500 + 4x


when the x and y value(s) satisfy both
equations, ie; When you “plug in” the values
for the variables the equation balances
