The following is an update for the coming week (please see the school website for

Locker Decorating:
2nd quarter honors recognition. We invite families in to decorate the lockers of those
students earning Honor or Merit Roll for 2nd quarter. You will receive a letter in the mail
with details or you may call the school office. Locker decorating will be Monday, 1/26
from 5-7 p.m.
The Sound of Music auditions:
Audition materials for this year's musical The Sound of Music are now available.
Students interested in joining the musical can find the materials
at www.waponline.org under the auditions page. Remember auditions are just to
determine what part you get. We will find a role for everyone!
Creative Writing Group:
Creative Writing Club will be meeting every Wednesday after school from 4-5. Anyone
who is interested in writing and sharing their work is invited to attend. Please bring a
snack. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Baker at jbaker2@wscloud.org.
College Credit Plus Meeting:
There will be a College Credit Plus meeting for interested parents of students in 7th-12th
grade. New rules allow middle school students to take college classes, and this meeting
will have the most current information on how. The meeting is at Worthington Kilbourne
High School on Monday, February 9th. More details to come.
Linworth Open Admission Night:
Linworth's Open Admission Night will be February 26th from 7-8:15 at Linworth.
Books’n’Bagels:
Books'n'Bagels will be meeting on Wednesday, January 28th at 8 a.m. to
discuss Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson. This book can be
checked out from the Worthington Public Library or the school library. Anyone who has
read the book is invited to attend. Bagels and juice will be provided. If you have
questions, please contact Mrs. Baker at jbaker2@wscloud.org.
Pre-College Programs:
Wright State University has upcoming overnight pre-college programs for rising 7-9th
grade students. Check outwww.wright.edu/precollege for more information, or stop by
and see Ms. Deuschle.
Worthington Cotillion:
The Worthington Cotillion is proud to announce the 2nd season of the 7th/8th grade
Dinner Etiquette classes on the following dates:
Tuesday, March 3, 2014 - Buffet Setting (Pasta Buffet will be served)
Tuesday, March 10, 2014 - Reception Setting (Heavy Hors D'oeuvres will be
served)
Tuesday, March 17, 2014 - Three Course Meal will be served
The three Dinner Etiquette Classes will be held at the Worthington Hills Country Club at
920 Clubview Boulevard South, Columbus, Ohio 43235. The classes begin promptly
at 7:00 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. The Dinner Etiquette Classes are designed to
increase your child's proficiency in socialized dining. Classes include information about
proper place settings, the correct use of silverware, conversational skills, social
media/cell phone etiquette and other general table manners. Dancing will also be
included in the evening’s activities.
A different theme will be emphasized each week. This will give each student an
opportunity to learn the proper behavior for a variety of settings and experiences they will
encounter in their adult life. Instruction is under the direction of Mr. Ron Clark.
Proper attire is required for all classes. For gentlemen, proper attire is defined as a dress
shirt and tie (suit or sport jacket optional) and for ladies, a dress or skirt. No pants are
permitted for the ladies. Tennis shoes and denim are not permitted.
The fee for the season is $100 payable with the application. There is a 20% discount
offered for siblings enrolled in the program at the same time. Registrations must be

Summer Enrichment Academy:
SAVE the DATE!!! While the weather outside is frightful...it is so delightful to know
that summer is just 5 short months away, and it’s not too early to start making summer
plans. Grades K-8 students will be invited to participate in the first-ever Worthington
Summer Enrichment Academy. This one-week enrichment program will be held from
9:30 -11:30 a.m., June 8th through June 12th, 2015. Look for more information about this
exciting new program to come later this winter.
