Our Research Gala day this year was better than ever and a great showcase for the
College. Kicking off with a great set of poster presentations from the postgraduate
researcher community in the Wolfson Common Room, the judges had their work cut out
shortlisting. This was followed by a similarly-excellent and varied set of oral
presentations by five postgraduate researchers. The afternoon saw a series of ‘5-Star’
presentations by five of the College’s postdoctoral researchers who gave some insight
into their research and career path to date, and wrapped up with the prize-giving
ceremony - many congratulations to the winners listed at the end of our newsletter!

Postdoctoral Training and Career Development 26th – 27th March 2012
Members of our Postdoctoral community recently had the chance to get together to
learn and share experiences at the Postdoctoral Training and Career Development Away
Day in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The programme included talks and organised discussion groups on useful and topical
issues, from both internal and external speakers. There were interactive presentations
from Bryan Turner (The Excitement of a Career in Science); Kate Bishop (Career
Pathways to R&KT and REF); Stephanie Maloney (KTP Fellowships); and Vince O’Grady,
