A- Introduction:
You can't write a good introduction until you know what the body of the paper says. Consider writing the
introductory section after you have completed the rest of the paper, rather than before.
What belongs in the introduction of your paper?
1.
Be sure to include a hook at the beginning of the introduction. This is a statement of something
sufficiently interesting to motivate your reader to read the rest of the paper.
2.
A statement of the goal of the paper: why is it written? What concepts or outcomes do you hope that the
reader will get out of it?
3.
Thesis: The introduction should be focused on the thesis question(s) or statement. All cited work should
be directly relevant to the goals of the thesis. If you cite any work (in the body of your text) and you find
that it does not relate to your thesis, then you either need to modify your thesis or delete or modify the
idea proposed.
4.
Remember that you will be guiding the reader to what lies ahead.
