- Build small electronic circuits
- Analyze and measure variables in circuits
- Write laboratory reports
- Enjoy electronics
* What you need to do:
- Participate actively in this part of the course
- Ask questions
- Complete all the assignments
- Ask questions
- Enjoy this course
- Ask questions…
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THIS COURSE:
•Notebook with binded pages:
- Write down your tasks and results while being completed
- Dated entries
- Do not tear off pages
- Instructor will check notebooks regularly
- Will be the basis for your lab report
•Materials to carry out Laboratory Experiences:
- Supplied by Penn State
Suggestion: Purchase basic parts
Of use for the rest of your laboratory courses and years to come
Time Savings
Better learning and experimenting
Work on your own: home, holidays, etc…
Materials that you may consider purchasing
(sorted in order of importance)
• Solderless Breadboard
• Jumper wires
• Cutting / Stripping tool
• Tool box to carry equipment
• Set of Resistors
• Soldering iron
•…
Where to purchase them?
Online distributors. Example:
• Jameco (www.jameco.com)
• Electronics Express http://www.elexp.com)
• Other..
Solderless Breadboard: Allows building and modifying circuits

Breadboards / Solderless:
(Electronics Express)
Best choices: H or I
WITH WIRE KIT
Wire jumpers Kit: Interconnection on Board
Wire jumpers Kit: Interconnection on Board

Also add a small screwdriver
Tool box to carry board, tools, etc : Walmart, Kmart, etc…
Resistors Kit: Several resistances standard values
Buy ¼ W or ½ W (1/8 W are too small)

Soldering Iron:
There is no need to solder in this course, nor
in the majority of courses you will take.
Only EET 420 may require soldering
Purchase for your own personal interest
Use a soldering Iron with temperature control and
thin tips
Do not waste your money on cheaper models. Not
versatile enough
Accessories needed: Solder rolls and desoldering braids
