January 10thth SLC Pro-D: “The Vital Few….Critical Principles for Project Management and Continuous Improvement” by Joel Huntington, MBA, PMP, Six Sigma Joel is a multi-faceted executive with 15 years of experience in leading enterprise project, quality, and change initiatives, including: Program leader of transformation of processes in 9 local countries into a centralized regional framework in Western Europe Leader of the Project Management Office (PMO) for GE Switzerland, supporting a portfolio of $6B in assets and representing $80MM net income Leader of transformation program to migrate over 2MM accounts to cutting-edge processing platform. Accounts represent more than $10B in annual credit card volume Leader for conversion project of European commercial portfolio onto new processing platform. Joel currently leads process improvement for Zions Bancorporation. Mr. Huntington has a Master of Science in Project Management from George Washington University, Washington DC. Joel is a certified Lean Six Sigma Quality Master Black Belt and Black Belt, as well as a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). His areas of expertise include: project portfolio management, quality management using LEAN Six Sigma, and organizational change management. Jan 10th SLC Dinner: “Project Planning -- City Creek Center Revisited” by Dan Haltinner, Director of Design Management for City Creek Dan is an architect, licensed in Utah and California, and received his education from the University of Utah with a BS in Business Management and a Masters in Architecture. Since beginning his career as a draftsman in 1977, Dan has had the opportunity to work on many educational, commercial, institutional and religious facilities throughout the mid-west and western United States. He has worked for architectural and engineering firms in Utah, Colorado and California. Dan joined the City Creek Team in 2006 and continued with that project until the Grand Opening in March of 2012. His main responsibilities were the management/coordination of outside architectural and engineering firms and functioning as the project liaison with the City of Salt Lake. At the peak of design and construction of the City Creek Center there were six architectural firms, forty plus engineers and specialty consultants, three general contractors and up to 2200 construction workers on the project. Dan now resides in Farmington, Utah and currently works for the LDS Church in the Project Management Division of the Special Projects Department. Jan 16th UT County Lunch: “Strategic Program Management” Jeff Binford – IM Flash Technologies Site Strategic Program Manager Jeff holds an Industrial Engineering degree from Arizona State University and began his career with Micron in 2002 as a production planner. He was quickly recognized for his leadership skills in production planning and program management where in 2004, Jeff was selected as the planning manager for a semiconductor production line in Boise Idaho. In 2006 when the IM Flash Joint venture between Intel & Micron was formed in Lehi, Jeff was selected as the inaugural Industrial Engineering Manager. As the IE manager for the multi-billion dollar start-up, Jeff and his team were responsible for the planning and project management for the aggressive install and manufacturing qualification of hundreds of semiconductor tools. The resulting production ramp was recognized as the fastest and most successful in semiconductor industry until 2010 when Jeff improved on the previous work as he oversaw the IE activities for the new IM Flash Technologies plant built in Singapore. In 2012, Jeff returned to the Lehi Utah facility where he accepted the Site Strategic Program Manager role where he is responsible for shaping the future of the company as part of the Site Leadership Team.
