B. COURSE INFORMATION:
1. Catalog Description: Introduction to pharmacological concepts that are integrated throughout the nursing curriculum. Nursing process is emphasized as the framework for administering medications.
Two credits theory (30 hours). Offered Fall Semester only.
Prerequisite: Admission to the Nursing Program.

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION:
This is an online course utilizing a text with an online course module component through GBC’s Web Campus. In addition to the chapters in the text, information is provided via posted power points. The module components are supplemental information which corresponds to certain chapters in the text. After you have read your chapters and completed the on line activities, take the Self-Study quizzes and the Module Exams by the due dates. You are allowed to take the take the Self-
Study quizzes two times and your grade will be the higher of the two. You can only take the Module Exams once. The Practice NCLEX quizzes are optional and are not graded.
THEORY EVALUATION:
Evaluation of student progress will be the successful completion of the course outcomes that will be evaluated with module examinations and Self-Study quizzes. Questions will be based on utilization of critical thinking skills and application of knowledge acquired in this course. Questions may be multiple- choice, fill in the blank, choose all correct answers, or other alternate formats as applicable.

GRADING POLICY AND CRITERIA:
Course grade will be based on a percentage of the total possible points of theory and clinical assignments according to the following scale:
100 - 94.00 = A 76.00 =C (needed to pass)
93.99-90.00 = A- 75.99-70.00 = C-
89.99-87.00 = B+
86.99-84.00 = B
83.99-80.00 = B-
79.99-77.00 = C+
69.99-67.00 = D+
66.99-64.00 = D
63.99-60.00 = D-
Below 60.00 = F
Course work must be completed with an average of 76% or better to pass the course.
Late theory assignments will be worth 50% of the actual grade. If an assignment is more than one week late, a zero will be given for the assignment but submission of the assignment is still required.
