Welcome Address by Principal

Bhimtal and Dr. Ranjana Ruhela Principal J.N.Kaul Institute, Bhimtal, parents,
guests, old Gmeinerians, media persons, my dear students and colleagues a very
warm good afternoon.
On the occasion of 29th Annual Day of the school, I extend a hearty welcome on
behalf of entire school community to all the members of this respected gathering.
We are honoured by your esteemed presence and indeed it is our privilege to have
you with us.
I feel honoured to welcome the Chief Guest Mr. Deepak Rawat IAS District
Magistrate, Nainital . Born and brought up in Mussoorie, he did his schooling from
Hampton Court and St. George’s Mussoorie. He graduated with honours in history
from Hans Raj College, Delhi University and went on to do Masters and M.Phil.
from JNU. He joined IRS in 2005 and was selected as an IAS in 2007. He held
various key positions before being posted as District Magistrate of Nainital. He
shares special bond with Kumaon as the MD of Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam
(KMVN), the Tourism authority of region. An ardent lover of history and literature
he loves trekking and bird – watching being a quintessential mountain person.
I welcome our Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) B.S. Bisht Director Birla institute of
Applied Science Bhimtal. Prof. Bisht got his B.Tech & M.Tech. degrees from G.B.
Pant University of Agriculture & Technology Pantnagar and completed PG
Programme in Management in the year 1982 from Indian Institute of Management,
Ahmedabad. Later in the year 1995 he obtained Doctoral Degree in Industrial
engineering and Management from IIT Kharagpur.
Dr. Bisht has held many important positions in his chequered career before taking
over as Vice Chancellor of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology,
Pantngar. He is a recipient of many citations and awards including Colonel

Commandant of Indian Army, Uttarakhand Ratan, Life Time Achievement award
for Academic Excellence, Intellectual Peace Academy Award etc.
I extend my warm welcome to all the parents and guests who have co-operated us
till date in all respects to motivate the children so as to shape their personality in
right direction. We hope for the same in future also. It is real pleasure to welcome
our alumni who continue to do us proud and the faculty hears from them time to
time. Need I remind them, it is they who have to justify our existence, our fate and
our future?
School Annual Report
I take great pleasure in presenting the 29th Annual Report of HGS documenting its
development and achievement for the year 2014 – 2015. The annual day of our
school is not only to welcome guests and parents but also our old students and
above all to reward our talented students in the form of prizes for their
achievements in academics, games and co-curricular activities.
In order to fulfill the mission of Hermann Gmeiner Schools which is “ To facilitate
physical, moral and academic development of children ,enabling them to
become conscientious & contributing human beings who will make the world
a better place” The school lays equal emphasis on scholastic as well as coscholastic & extracurricular activities.
Scholastic Area
The School is imparting holistic education making full use of modern technology
including smart class equipments on line class & Tablet based language lab . The
excellent board results of the school are testimony that academics is the prime
concern of the school. 156 students appeared in the class XII examination 95
students got first division. Km. Kritika Sharma topped science stream with 93%.
Rahul Jain scored 91.2% and Devendra Pratap Singh, Manish Mehra, Ayushi Giri
scored 90.6%. In commerce stream Shubham Gupta topped with 92.8% .
In class X 119 students appeared. All have passed. Bhawana Sharma, Lakshya
Rawat, Saumya Garbyal, Saumya Dixit, Ritu Tewari, Ajay Mishra & Pranjal Rohila
topped with 10 CGPA.
CO-SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES
Music, Dance, Art & Literary activities
The school organizes a large number of co-scholastic activities for the
development of overall personality of students by imparting important life skills,
literary, creative skills and inventiveness.

Various Inter House, inter class, intra class activities were held in school every
Saturday as debates , declamation, poetry, writing, group and solo song , group
and solo dance, poster making, calligraphy and also sports and games
competitions etc. Apart from these, students participated with excellent
performance at many inter school events.
INTER HGS LITERARY MEET 2014-15
Inter HGS Literary Meet 2014 -2015 was held at HGS Faridabad on 17th & 18th Oct
2014.In English Declamation and Extempore Zainab Ghazal of class VIII Scored
Ist Position, while in English Poem Recitation Aman Gangola of Class IVth
Scored IIIrd Position and in Word building Competition Kartikaey and Diksha
Jaggi of class IV Scored III Position.
INTER HGS ATHLETIC MEET 2014-15
Inter HGS Athletic Meet 2014-15was held at HGS Jammu from 10th to 13th
October. 2014. Our school won many prizes. In Sr. Category Our School won Ist
Runner up Trophy and in Junior Category won IInd runner Up Trophy.
INTER SCHOOL PAINTING COMPETITION
H.G.S. Celebrated Art Exhibition on August 8, 2015. Which was inaugurated by
Commissioner Kumaon Mr. A.S. Nayal. The painting exhibition brought to the fore
the creative skills of the students and captured the imagination of the young and
the old alike. Mr A.S. Nayal appreciated the students for coming up with a variety
of expressions in their paintings.
THDC Rishikesh Organised a State Level painting Competition on 15th November
2014 on “Energy Conservation “ Three of our students Mohit Jalal, Mahima Bisht &
Manish Lohani were awarded consolation prizes.
SPECTURM-2014
Birla Institute of Applied Sciences, Bhimtal celebrated their Annual Festa
Spectrum’ from 11th April to 13th April 2014. In this competition our students also
participated and in Rangoli competition Hafizul Rehman of class XC & Roashan
Kumar Singh of class VII got I position and in Street metric Ajeet Singh of VII A &
Hafizul Rehman of XC got-III position
CANVAS FESTA
Department of Management studies, Kumaon University, Bhimtal campus
celebrated ‘Canvas Festa’ on 28th Nov 2014. Students of Hermann Gmeiner
School, Bhimtal participated in various events and won many prizes.In Face
Painting Competition Shivani Arya and Ritika Lohani got Ist prize, in Drawing
competition Pragya Joshi got Ist prize, in Quiz Competition Manisha Upreti,
Shubham Bhatt and Diksha Banthoki got Ist prize, in Poem Recitation Namrata
Mamgie got Ist Prize and in Solo Dance Competition Amisha won Ist Prize.

KALEIDOSCOPE
On the sport painting completion - Amtul’s Public School, Nainital organsied Inter
School ‘On the Sport Painting completion’ KALEIDOSCOPE on 23rd April 2014.
320 students from different schools participated. In Category ‘A’ Riya Kandwal of
Class IV Won Consolation prize,in Category “C Ajeet Singh of Class VII won 1st
prize and Akash Desuza of Class VII got Consolation prize and in Category ‘E’
Pragya Joshi of Class XII
got Consolation prize.
Pt. G.B. Pant Jayanti Samaroh
School Students participated in various programmes which were held on 10th
September 2014 .Students won various prizes in Different Categories and for the
past two years the school is getting the overall running trophy
Nanda Devi Mahotsava
School children participated in Folk dance & Folk song competition organized by
Nandadevi Mahotsava Samiti, Bhowali on 31st to 4th Sept. 2014. Our school team
bagged First position in Folk Song and in Dance second position. Over all trophy
was won by Our School
SPORTS & GAMES
Paragliding
Five students of our school participated in paragliding at Pandey Gaon
(Naukuchiyatal) Organised by District Adventure sports Department, Nainital from
17th, March to 22nd, March 2015.
Basket Ball
Six students of our school participated in Basketball tournament at Haldwani
Stadium in April 2015 at District level..
14 student of our school participated in basket ball District selection at Inspiration
school And Universal Convent Haldwani on 1st May and on 14th May 2014 , three
girls Monika , Pallavi and Pragati and 4 Boys Ritik , Nesar Alam , Shiva and
Sankalp Dube in Jr. Boys were selected for State Level Tournament.
Athletic Meet 2014
we participated in athletic meet on 26th and 27th September 2014 organized by
DSA Nainital and won various prizes in various event.
CBSE Cluster
School’s Football team also participated in CBSE cluster at Meerut from
October to 15th October 2014.

5TH NATIONAL MONSOON MOUNTAIN 2014 ‘RUN TO LIVE’ MARATHON
133 students of our school participated in 5th National Monsoon Mountain “Run to
Live Marathon” on 31st August. 2014 at Nainital. Master Deepak Singh of Class IX
won first position in the senior boys (IX-XII) category in 7 Kms. Race. He was
awarded with cash prize of Rs. 5,000/- & certificate. Our school was also awarded
the trophy for sending the largest number of participants.
Athletic Meet
08 student participated at Mount Litera Zee School Meerut Athletic Meet from 08th
October to 10th October, in which master Deepak got IV Position in 5000mtrs Race
Volley Ball
School Volley Ball team participated in the Volley Ball match from 19th to 21st
October at Spring Dale CBSE Secondary School Muzafarnagar U.P.
NCC
10 days NCC camp was organized from 21st May to 31st May 2014 at
Patwadangar, Nainital by Directorate of NCC Nainital. 26 boy cadets and 26 girl
cadets of our school participated in this training camp.
To keep the teachers at power with the latest methodologies technicalities
To keep the teachers abreast with the latest teaching methodologies technicalities
all types of workshop/seminars, conducted by sos cv india / CBSE /registered
teacher training agencies are being regularly attended by our teachers so that the
students get benefit from them.
The school is continuously receiving guidance from Mrs. Anuja Bansal Secretary
General SOS- CVI, and Mrs. Jyotsana Saxena Director School and Education,
SOS-CVI, my hearty thanks to them for their guidance and support. I would also
like to thank my administrative staff subordinate staff, the local authorities, the
media outlets for helping us to run the school smoothly
May I once again express my gratitude to the chief guest Mr. Deepak Rawat and
Guest of Honour Dr. B.S. Bisht for being with us. Finally I thank most warmly to
the parents for accepting our invitation and obliging us with their gracious presence
and patience hearing.
Finally if we can reach our children to create stepping stones out of stumbling
blocks and make them understand that the darkest hour is just before a new dawn
– I think we have equipped them for life.
