Summary of Experience:
I.
Forestry Research:
Seven years experience in State Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur and two and a half years as Officer In-Charge of
Regional Research Centre of SFRI at Nepanager.
II.
Environment, Forest and Wildlife Protection and Management:
About forty years experience in Forests / Wildlife Protection and Management, with M.P. Forest Department.
III.
Captive and Free Ranging Wildlife Management:
Worked as Deputy Director in Van Vihar National Park, (Bhopal Zoo), and managed captive wildlife for about four
years. Oversaw the protection, development and management of free ranging wildlife in the forests for about four
years, as Superintendent, Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary, Obaidullaganj (MP).
IV.
Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA):
Imparted P.R.A. trainings to various disciplines in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Andhra
Pradesh; brought P.R.A. into practice in micro level planning. Conducted over 30 workshops and got the Micro Plans
of the villages prepared.
V.
Joint Forest Management (JFM):
Was an important member of team, which developed Joint Forest Management (JFM), in Harda Forest Division of
Madhya Pradesh, which is considered a pioneer and internationally recognized work in India.
(A) Constituted First Village Level Organization in M.P. (Badwani Forest Village of Harda Forest Division.)
(B) Was Leader of the Spear Head Team of Harda Forest Division, in implementation of JFM.
(C) Contributed in drafting the JFM resolutions passed by Govt. of M.P., including the current one.
(D) Contributed in Capacity building of the front line staff for JFM and Project formulation.
VI.
Integrated Rural Development:
The integrated and sustainable rural development was the motto of JFM, which included development of forests
and other natural resources as well as the village and human resources. Implemented community based and family
oriented development plans and schemes, addressing livelihood, health, education and other relevant issues, under
numerous plans of the State and Central Governments.
Supervised, oversaw and coordinated between District Administration and the Local Forest Department for the
projects taken up and the assets created on lands of individual villagers under MGNREGA, Total Sanitation Campaign
(Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan) and Indira Awas Yojna; right from Capacity Building, Project formulation, Inclusion in self of
projects, Sanctions, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation.
VII.
Training:
Have sufficient expertise in Identification of Training Needs, Designing of Training Modules, Conducting and
Managing the Trainings. Have been the member of State Level Training Core Group in World Bank aided M.P.
Forestry Project and Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, for designing trainings for front line staff of M.P. Forest
Department.
Was Key Resource Person in the following: (A) Imparting Trainings in P.R.A. (Participatory Rural Appraisal) to a big range of officials of various
departments, accommodating different needs and issues, as follows: 1. Forest Officers (Members of Spear Head Team) of M.P. Forests Department in Harda,
Chhindwara, Shivpuri and Bilaspur Districts.
2. Forest Officers of Maharashtra State at Rahatgoan(M.P.) and Chikldara (Maharashtra).

(E) Capacity building of the frontline staff: Conducted and coordinated the capacity building of the frontline
staff, for convergence in JFM and making them capable of Integral Rural Development Project formulation and
implementation in the different schemes of the State and Central Government.
VIII.
Project Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation (PIME):
Formulated and implemented numerous projects for Forest Development, Rural Development and Watershed
Development and Village Resource Development. Was an active member from the field, in Project Formulation
Team, for M.P. Forestry Project submitted to the World Bank. World Bank Team visited my work area twice before
approval of the project.
IX.
Literacy Campaign:
Worked as District Coordinator and Secretary of District Literacy Committee, in Total Literacy Mission of
Hoshangabad District of Madhya Pradesh for two about years.
X.
News Paper / Letter Editing:
1. Worked as Honorary Managing Editor of 'VAN UDGHOSH' a Hindi fortnightly for two years.
2. Worked as Sub Editor of ‘DHAI AKHAR' a Hindi weekly published by Distt. Literacy Committee Hoshangabad
while working in Literacy Mission.
3. Started a news letter “VAN VIHAR VARTA” while working as Assistant Director in Van Vihar National Park,
Bhopal, acting as Assistant Editor.
XI.
Consultancy Assignments:
1. Worked with Wild Life Institute of India (WII), Dehradun for A. P. Forestry Project in Andhra Pradesh;
interacted with Park Staff, People and NGOs, and suggested ways to minimize conflict between Park and
People.
2. Worked as Consultant in J.F.M. oriented P.R.A. workshops in planning of pilot project in H. P. Forestry Project
in Himachal Pradesh.
3. Carried out Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the proposed Power Plant near Vijaypur, in Guna
District of Madhya Pradesh.
4. Worked as Training Consultant in MP Ecotourism Development Board and contributed towards training need
assessment and developing training modules for frontline staff and service providers. Also contributed in
preparation of modules for proposed certificate and diploma courses for Ecotourism Managers.
