Overview

Around 18 people attended the second meeting of the re-launched Learning Technologists network.

1.

A summary was given of the outcomes from the last meeting concerning the vision, aims and ideas which were suggested, generated and agreed at the first meeting.

2.

The focus of the meeting was then to consider how all of these could be achieved and what would be the mains focus over the next 12 months.

Activities around connecting practice (reach and grow):

 Discussions about identifying similar projects or plans across the University

 Identifying new members

 Connections to new groups

Areas of expertise

 Identification of group’s expertise and interests in order to identify trends and gaps

Participation

 Discussion of what things do we want to achieve next year.

 Focus of future meetings

 Assignment of which type of network activity would support this

Next meeting options were discussed

An update was then given on wider policies and changes, focusing on the Social Media policy by Kirsten Thomas.

6.

A collaborative working tool – BaiBoard was demonstrated by James Little.

Launch of the Blog

Blog is soft-launched at: http://www.sdduonline.leeds.ac.uk/wordpress/uoltel/

Meeting Topics:

Distance learning options – VLE/MOOCS

Features of face-to-face meetings:

Standing agenda items to enable continued discussion and revisiting between meetings

One person to talk to a theme (i.e. social media or VLE) per meeting

Multiple people to help organise meetings

Different activities/balance between communication information.

Report of each meeting sent round and created by a different person/group each meeting

Group Outcomes

Research into technology enhanced learning. Journal club or writing them. Publish them.

Follow up on activity generated from within and outside the network by posting a write up on the blog

Disseminate information top-down and bottom-up (to schools/faculties and back up to

 committees BLTTIG, etc)
