The History of Authentic
Pilates
Developed by Joseph H. Pilates more than 50 years ago,
Pilates is a series of more than 500 controlled movements
performed on a variety of equipment. The movements are
continuous from one exercise to the next. As one progresses,
the workout becomes increasingly more difficult, challenging
and aerobic. The method captures the benefits of Eastern
exercise philosophies, by emphasizing mental focus, breathing
and flexibility. Pilates also maximizes strength and
endurance, the focus of Western exercise methods. By
blending the best of these approaches, the body and mind are
trained to work together to restore muscular balance, build
strength, improve flexibility, increase coordination, and
circulation. Pilates improves body alignment and posture with
little or no impact on the joints.

Body & Mind Studio welcomes Norma
Iglesias to our team! Norma received Mat
Certification in 2003 through the Physical Mind
Institute. She continued her Pilates Instructor
education in Utah, receiving full certification in
2012.
Norma says, "I am drawn to the interactive
process that teaching Pilates provides. Pilates has
helped me recover from injuries and I love to see
it help my clients feel better, perform their
activities more “easefully” and become more
aware and in control of their bodies." Norma is
excited to join the Body and Mind Studio team,
and we are excited to have her here.
Body and Mind Studio is pleased to announce PT Aaron Hackett and
AEVITAS are joining our wellness team. AEVITAS is more than physical
therapy! They are:

your issue.

Meet Kelsey Barrus, Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Kelsy is trained in using play
therapy with children, and also works with teens and adults struggling with attachment
issues, trauma, mood issues, adoption, and domestic violence recovery. Insurance
