Elective Courses [9 credits]
The elective courses include all the common
technical courses and all graduate level courses
offered by the University System of Taiwan
(UST). Accreditation of courses taken outside of
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
areas must be approved by the Academic
Committee of this program.

Chinese Language Course Requirements
• Every student should take 6 credits of Chinese
language courses (which can not be counted
toward fulfillment of EECS International Graduate
Program) offered by NCTU Language Center
before and during their study at NCTU.
• Students who pass Test of proficiency (TOP) in
Huayu (Chinese Language) can waive the Chinese
language course requirements.

Thesis
• Student must select a thesis advisor and
submit the “Thesis Advisor Agreement“
Form within his/her first semester
• Student should submit a thesis proposal
(Appendix II) six months prior to his/her
application for a master degree examination

Independent Study
• Every student should take an independent study
course in every semester throughout their study at
NCTU.
• Their performance in the independent study is
evaluated by their thesis advisor.
• Every student must complete at least two
independent study courses with passing grades
before graduation.
• The independent study courses are not counted
toward fulfillment of course requirements.

Graduate Seminar Course [Mandatory, 0 credit]
• Every student must enroll in the graduate
seminar course for at least three semesters
before graduation. For those students who
graduate in one year, they should take the
seminar course in both semesters.
