4th October 2012 Brussels, Belgium Invitation to the second workshop “Anticipation of change – towards the creation of a European sector skills council for the European chemical industry?” ACV-CSC building, Rue de Trèves 31, 1040 Brussels GENERAL INFORMATION The chemical social partners at European level – the European Chemical Employers Group (ECEG) and industriAll Europe– would hereby like to invite you to the workshop “Anticipation of change – towards the creation of a European sector skills council for the European chemical industry?”. This workshop takes place in the framework of the EU-funded project “Setting up a European sector council on employment and skills needs for the chemical sector”, European project VP/ 2011/008/0273. The aim of the first phase of this project is to deepen and expand the European social dialogue through a European network of observatories and stakeholders involved in employment and skills needs for the chemical sector. ECEG and industriAll Europe are launching a one-year project (20122013) in order to map and mobilize national, regional or similar observatories as well as relevant stakeholders in: GENERAL AIM exchanging and disseminating best practices and methodologies on identifying employment and skill challenges (functioning, role, initiative, scope and results of their actions, etc.); acquiring reciprocal knowledge on anticipating and managing change; identifying those bodies which already have developed advanced tools and information platforms on relevant issues; identifying interested national and regional organisations which are willing to be involved in the creation of a European sector council on employment and skill needs; assessing the feasibility of such a network before going further in the creation of a European sector council. With the financial support of the European Union 4th October 2012 Brussels, Belgium CONTENT The second workshop will deal with: “Anticipation of change – towards the creation of a European sector skills council for the European chemical industry?”. This workshop will be an occasion to discuss the anticipation of change with all the stakeholders involved. Discussions will focus on the interest and the possibilities for reinforcing the network of observatories at European level. if the conditions for setting up a sector council in the chemical industry are met. The presence of stakeholders such as education and training organisations and providers from EU Member States in the workshop will be essential. Discussions could pave the way for formulating first recommendations for building the network of observatories and stakeholders in the chemical industry at European level.
