welcome your thoughts on individual packages and menu choices. You may wish to upgrade your package to include
extra canapés, intermediate courses or a selection from our extensive wine list. We’d be delighted to assist with this.
Booking Information:
If you decide to choose us as the venue please contact your wedding co-ordinator to check availability of
your preferred dates. Once you have chosen your date you may provisionally hold the date for 14 days
with no obligation. After this the following procedure apples: Immediate
£500 non-refundable deposit to confirm the date
12 weeks prior to the wedding
Second deposit of £1,000 required
6 weeks prior to the wedding
Go over your details including numbers, menu and timings. At this time if you wish to arrange a menu
tasting to help you choose your menu then we can arrange this for you at 50% of the cost.
2 weeks prior to the wedding
Go over the final details and give your final numbers, at this time we will require the remaining balance of
your wedding.
For all weddings minimum numbers of 80 day guests will be charged.
These prices are for all weddings in 2012, we expect that the price for weddings in 2013 will fluctuate by no
more than 5%.
Children aged between 3-12 are charged at half the adult rate, children aged 2 and under are
complimentary, children can either have half an adult portion or a choice from the children’s menu.
Children over the age of 12 are charged at full adult price and will receive a full adult portion.
With both a Religious and Civil Wedding Licence at Aberdeen Altens we would be delighted to host your
ceremony and with function rooms in a variety of sizes, please see below for details and the room hire
costs.

For your evening entertainment why not book our Resident Disco, we will happily book this on your behalf,
please ask us for further details. With our large stage area, a band is a great alternative to a disco and we

How many weddings are there
on one day at Altens?
There is only ever one wedding in one day.
Can I have a menu tasting?
Yes, this is available at half price for the Bride & Groom.
Where can we have photos
taken?
There are a variety of areas inside the hotel that are ideal for
photos as well as some outside areas, we can point them out to
you when you visit. We also recommend Cove Harbour and
Duthie Park as picturesque locations nearby for your
photographs.
Can we provide our own food?
No, the hotel does not allow other caterers to provide food.
Can we provide our own Wine?
No, sorry the hotel does not allow corkage
Can we have a choice menu?
Yes, however there is supplement added for a choice, quotes
can be given on request.
How many will I cater for with
our evening buffet?
Our evening buffets will be served at your chosen time and can
be served alongside your Wedding Cake. We recommend that
you cater for all of you evening guests to avoid disappointment
and we require you to cater for a minimum of 75%.
What time is the Bar open until?
Our function bar has a 1am licence.
Can you recommend bands/
photographers/cake makers etc?
Yes, we can recommend suppliers but we cannot book them on
your behalf.
What table centres can the hotel
provide
The wedding package includes white seasonal flowers in tall
vases and a white draping top table arrangement, if you require
something specific please let us know and we can arrange, this
might involve an additional cost. We also have table mirrors
available at no extra charge. You are welcome to organise
alternative centre pieces at your own cost.
What table linen will be used?
We will set up the tables with white linen only, if you require
something different please ask and we can provide a quote, the
hotel does not have chair covers but we can recommend hire
companies.
How many people does one
table hold?
8-10 people are most comfortable with 12 maximum.
Can our guests use the onsite
leisure facilities
Residents in the hotel are able to use the Otium Leisure Club.
The Hairdresser and Beauty Therapist are located in the Otium
Leisure Club and are available to see non-residents, however
you must book in advance with them yourself.
Wedding Terms & Conditions
The following terms and conditions of contract apply from the date of your signed contract. Written confirmation of
a booking implies acceptance of these terms and conditions.
1. Payment
Shall be by cash, cheque or such credit cards as recognised by the company. A £500.00 deposit is taken to secure your
booking, which is non-refundable. 12 weeks prior to the wedding we require a further non-refundable deposit of £1000.00.
Any remaining wedding balance must be received by the hotel 2 weeks prior along with final numbers, which must not be
less than 90% of the numbers given 6 weeks prior to the wedding as this will be the amount charged if this is the case
2. Minimum numbers
All weddings require a minimum number of 80 guests, this is the minimum numbers that are charged.
3. Costs
The prices in this brochure are for all weddings in 2012, we expect that the price for weddings in 2013 will fluctuate by no
more than 5%. Please note that prices in this brochure are correct at time of print but are subject to change.
4. Cancellations
If you cancel your wedding, the hotel will charge you the following amounts;
If you cancel between 52 weeks and 12 weeks before the event date- 50% of the bill
If you cancel within 12 weeks of the wedding you will be charged 100% of the bill
Charges are based on approximate numbers received at the time of confirmation of booking. If you do not
turn up on the date of your wedding you will receive 100% charges
5. Licensing and Other Laws
The hotel must keep to certain laws including those regarding fire precautions, entertainment and alcohol consumption.
Everyone in the hotel must abide by these laws, a copy of which is held at the hotel. This agreement does not affect
any of your rights under the Hotel Proprietors Act 1956.
6. Coats & Personal Property
The hotel will not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to you or any of your party’s property.
7. Third Party Insurance
The hotel will not accept any responsibility for death, injury, disease or theft or damage to the property; unless
the hotel or it’s employees is found to be at fault.
8. Damage
You will be responsible for any damage you or any of your guests cause.
9. Professional Bodies
The hotel reserves the right to refuse to admit any photographer, toastmaster, band, musician or any other person
employed for your event, a liability form must be filled out in advance for any external catering.
10. Finishing Times
Any function or conference must finish at the time agreed when the booking is made. An additional charge may
be made if the function runs on later than this. The laws mentioned in Clause 4 must be adhered to.
11. General Liability
The hotel will not be held legally responsible if they do not provide the services in this contract due to the following
circumstances:
Industrial action by the company’s employees
Industrial action by the staff one of the company’s major suppliers
Fire, lightening, explosion, riot and civil commotion, malicious damage, storm, flood, burst pipes, earthquake and the hotel
being hit by anything
Postal bookings which do not reach the hotel
Breakdown of machinery, or any failure to supply the hotel with gas, electricity, water and so on, outside the control of the
hotel.
You or the hotel cannot transfer the legal rights of this contract.
This contract is governed by the laws of Scotland.
