JadeWeserPort: port operations using INPLAN Port Management 2.0 from vessel notification to completely integrated billing For all daily port operations JadeWeserPort has implemented the INPLAN Port Management software. JWP thereby is running a central platform with single point of access for all participants involved. All participants (companies, authorities, port office) are handling their processes smoothly and efficiently with the utilized INPLAN software in use. INPLAN’s software solutions are implemented and running in more than 80 locations worldwide including Port of Beirut in Lebanon, Port of Wilhelmshaven, JadeWeserPort in Germany and the BASF Group of chemical companies’ industry ports in Mannheim and Ludwigshafen, Germany. The scope realized for JadeWeserPort goes from specification of JWP requirements, conception of the software architecture, development of the solution using standard software and specified modules, individualized customizing, implementation, testing and training of the users as well. JWP-Portal and participants involved Since june 2012, the JWP-Portal is running internet-based and comprises a wide range of functionalities. For example online vessel notification / ship’s declaration, planning of services, capturing of all relevant data, fully automated billing and a comprehensive reporting system are components of the software. Throughout the development process, JadeWeserPort focused on maximising the benefit for operating the whole range of supply chain achieving smooth and efficient running workflows for all parties participating. Therefore, INPLAN provides additional and innovative modules to the standardized Port Management Software like the module „visual port“. Visual port is displaying real-time data in the groundplan of the port facilities like planning of bookings, occupancy and billing of berth. Users are supported by intuitive to use interfaces and processes. Example: INPLAN Visual Port JWP (plan of berth) For partners, the JWP-Portal offers the advantage having a single access point for all relevant duties and obligations. All workflows can be handled efficiently, paperless and independent of location and time. As an example, similar and automated to the online vessel notification, the ship’s declaration according to European, local and Port Office regulations are conducted. In addition, after approval by authorized user, data interchange to federal statistics agency automatically proceeds. No filling in the mandatory form for sea transportation shall be done. Usual declaration of waste is contained in the new system as well. The software system provides the possibility to attach of documents like pdf files or pictures, entry of notices and free text as well as mandatory upload of security documents. Example: INPLAN Visual Port at Port of Beirut (Satellite) INPLAN‘s Port Management software supports JadeWeserPort to consequently focus on setting highest service standards to its customers. Integration of further functions increases the comfort for JWP’s users: customers can directly order online further services like supply of fresh water or UMTS connection. JWP-Portal meets maximum requirements for data availability and data security. Online registration is SSL certified and encrypted. Access to the software system depends on registration and approval by authorised users only. INPLAN’s primary resposibilities in executing the JWP port automation project were analysis, verifying and adjustation of workflows and procedures, developing/customizing, testing and implementation of the software and the training of users as key factor for customer focused and easy-to-use software. Based in Germany, INPLAN is a leading provider of software for port management and maritime logistics. Since the company was founded in 1989 INPLAN developed standard industry software, which can be customized by flexible use of various modules integrated in the standard software. The development of INPLAN Software is characterized by innovation and consequent customer service orientation. Due to INPLAN’s profound knowledge of the maritime industry, processes, Software, IT-Systems and services, customers worldwide are able to quickly adapt to industry dynamics, increase their productivity and effectively manage their infrastructure. The scope of INPLAN software projects can range from relatively simple core systems for ports acting solely as an infrastructure provider to highly complex operations covering transhipment, warehousing and billing processes, etc. However, as the modules are discrete entities, projects can be limited to cover specified business fields only while other processes are either not required or are covered by other systems. In the latter case interfaces will facilitate the data exchange between the INPLAN and 3rd party systems.
