Merge-in-transit : Products from multiple sources for an order (e.g. a company’s own factories and outside suppliers, etc.) are sent to a BPL warehouse, where they are consolidated into one shipment for distribution. Some low value products may already be stored at the site awaiting the additional high value JIT items.

Benefit - reduces the need to stock pile certain products releasing working capital to invest in your business. It also reduces handling costs which are associated with smaller individual shipments.

Mixing : The warehouse receives full-vehicle shipments of different products. The shipments are broken down and assembled into product mix by customer or market.

Benefit – Provides a service to customers who would’ve received smaller shipments per product.

Reduces their handling costs and releases pressure off their receiving bays.

Cross-dock

Multiple shipments - come in from many suppliers, are sorted by customer, and then are moved across the dock (without being stored) and shipped directly to the customer.

A single shipment - arrives from one supplier into our deconsolidation centre to be unpacked and dispatched directly to the delivery point.

Benefit – reduces handling costs and storage costs with the benefit of increased speed to market.
