HPE Performance Center 12.50 New Features Webinar Questions and Answers December 17, 2015 Q: Is there a specific format for the logs? A: PAL uses production logs with cookies and user details. Q: What’s the size of the logs? A: The log size is unlimited, but it is recommend to take up to 1 peak hour to reduce the processing time. Q: Is the test scenario created automatically? Can it be customized? A: Yes , in the Scenario tab click “Create Test”. PAL creates a test which can be customized. Q: How can we be sure that the load test represent the real load and to compare its results to production data? A: After you run the test, you can create a PAL report that compares between the production log and the results. The comparison report can be displayed as a grid or as a chart. Q: Do I need an extra license to use PAL + NV? A: PAL – no additional license is required, NV - you get license for 2 free Vusers. Q: Can we generate the NV analytics report during the load test? A: We have heard that feedback from the field and intend to add this capability in a future release. Q: Is there a particular license proposed for noise generator? I assume this capability is limited to Web apps, right? A: No need for a specific license to use noise generator scripts. When working with noise generator scripts, the total number of charged Vusers is as follows: 10 noise Vusers are charged as a single Vuser. 100 noise Vusers are charged as 10 Vusers. It is relevant for Web apps. The purpose is to create a load on the server by having a large number of users accessing the same URL simultaneously. Q: Google Analytics and Web trends data are no more supported by PAL for now, right? A: In PC 12.50, PAL supports logs that include user cookies/sessions (such as IIS, Apache and HP RUM). PAL analyzes the logs and automatically creates business flows and performance scenarios. You can also use Google Analytics and Webtrends logs to create PAL compression reports. Q; what stands PAL for? A: Performance Application Lifecycle. The improved PAL feature allows for complete end-to-end testing and DevOps feedback. Users can accurately compare performance test results with real production data benchmarks. Analysis of these results provides a framework to assist you in creating performance test scenarios to resemble realistic environments as closely as possible, which reduces test assumptions and risks. Q: What Versions of FF, Chromium und IE are supported/delivered? A: The following browsers are supported: • Microsoft Internet Explorer 9, 10, 11 (On Microsoft Windows only) • Google Chrome 44.x (On Microsoft Windows only) • Mozilla Firefox 39.x (On Microsoft Windows only) • Apple Safari 7.x (On Mac OS only) See also: (https://hpln.hpe.com/page/performance-center-system-requirements) Q: How do I Enter Login-Data for my website? A:Not clear, please add more details. Q: Can explain network virtualization in more detail? A: Network Virtualization software enables you to capture and emulate real-world network conditions to use in your performance tests, and analyze test results to detect and repair performance bottlenecks before deployment. For more information: Network Virtualization Overview ( http://almhelp.saas.hp.com/en/12.50/online_help/Content/PC/c_wan_emulation_overview .htm) Q: can you please provide us full list of protocols that NV support in PC 12.50? A: In PC 12.50 NV supports all protocols including Java and Citrix. Q: Need reconfirmation - will automated script creation handle dynamic values? A: One of the algorithm steps in PAL is to find repetitive patterns. A repetitive pattern is marked as a parameter. Q: Will the NV profile will be only visible inside the project? Or can it be shared with the entire farm? A: In PC we can import locations data between tests within the same projects. Currently we do not have the option to copy the profiles between projects. We will consider this capability in future versions. Q: Presenter and Chart showed PAL only supports IIS, Apache and HP RM. When it started also shows Google Analytics and Web trends. So what is really supported, and can we use Google Analytics? A: In PC 12.50, PAL supports logs that include user cookies/sessions (such as IIS, Apache and HP RUM). PAL analyzes the logs and automatically creates business flows and performance scenarios. You can also use Google Analytics and Webtrends logs to create PAL compression reports. Q: So as per the ratings shown just now, different actions within a script can have different impact on the performance based on the network? A: Slower networks may have significant impact on both client and server performance. The NV Analytics report provides a set of recommendations to help improve application performance even on the slower networks. Q: Do we have Production log feature in Loadrunner 12.5? A: No, we don’t have this option in LoadRunner 12.50. Q: Does it matter, that you’re using chrome browser? A: The following browsers are supported: • Microsoft Internet Explorer 9, 10, 11 (On Microsoft Windows only) • Google Chrome 44.x (On Microsoft Windows only) • Mozilla Firefox 39.x (On Microsoft Windows only) • Apple Safari 7.x (On Mac OS only) See also: (https://hpln.hpe.com/page/performance-center-system-requirements) Q: How does pal deal with reverse proxy and balanced systems? A: PAL works with one server log at a time. You cannot combine logs from two different servers. When working with balanced systems, you can select a single server and use its log, if it contains all your business flows. Q: do we get access to load generators for installation of our application when using RDP Protocol? A: Load generators are available through RDP Q: When PC 12.50 is transferred to SAAS, will PAL be integral to the SAAS cost or separate? A: PAL does not require any additional licenses (on premise or SaaS). Once SaaS on boards 12.50, users will be able to use the 12.50 features based on their agreements with SaaS. Q: For input to PAL, do we need to provide the logs for Web server only OR web server + App server? A: You need to provide Web server logs only. Q: what exactly the Noise Generator scripts? A: It's an URL , to be accessed simultaneously by vast number of Virtual Users to create a load on the server application. It can be used in parallel to complex business flows to simulate stress conditions. Q: Will java script feature in Web/HTTP will help in some side of client side testing or option for Ajax Click and script? A: What do you mean by client side testing? Please elaborate. Q: Will NV Analytics give me the response times for resources present on Akamai? A: NV Analytics displays detailed information for any resource downloaded by the application, including information about its source and a detailed timeline breakdown. If resources are downloaded from Akamai, NV Analytics will provide information on response times. Q: How do you remove licenses in PC 12.5? A: You cannot remove licenses. Q: How to Navigate from one project to another without opening the new session or logout? A: You have to log out from the current Performance Center project and log in to another project. Q: What's is the value provided by the noise test? What’s the benefit of use it? A: Noise generator's purpose is to create a load on the server by having a large number of users accessing the same URL simultaneously. Q: How are the NV recommendations determined? I.e. how are the set of rules defined? By who? A: NV validates the application using a list of rules. Each rule is assigned a severity, which is reflected in the calculation of the overall grade. Some of the rules are based on common best practices, found also in YSlow. Others are unique rules based on our own research. Q: Can you now simulate 1000's of Virtual clients with True Client? How many TC VU can you run on a quad processor with 16 GB machine for example? A: You can run 20,000 TruClient Vusers. It depends on how many load generators are in use. Some of our customers run thousands of TruClient Vusers with StormRunner. It is hard to determine how many Vusers you can run on a given machine since it may vary between different applications. A quad processor with 16 GB RAM machine, is unable to run a large number of Vusers. As for memory, it may limit to a maximum of 80 Vusers, but the processor might be saturated earlier. Q: Does the new PC 12.50 support scripting on Edge? A: PC 12.50 does not support scripting on Edge. Q: Does PAL script generation support Siebel OpenUI with iPlanet web servers? A: PAL generates Web-HTTP template scripts. Q: Does Network Virtualization license server needs to be installed on a different machine or can it coexist with Perf Center machines? A: The NV license server is not required for the NV integration with PC 12.50. The Network Virtualization license is managed from the Lab Management - PC licenses page, together with all PC licenses. Q: Does TruClient 12.50 support IE11? A: TruClient supports IE11. For details on browser support for additional protocols, see https://softwaresupport.hp.com/group/softwaresupport/searchresult/-/facetsearch/document/KM01766777 Q: Can you advise, if smaller countries or cities are not listed in global library of SHUNRA network Virtualization? A: The Network Virtualization Global Library contains a large database of real, worldwide network information. It enables you to emulate networks in your lab, based on actual measurements. The Global Library contains a vast number of countries and cities and is periodically updated. If you require information about specific cities not currently included in the Global Library, please contact us. We may be able to add the information you need. Q: Can we get the concurrent usage information from Usage report? A: Planned for an upcoming release. Q: Is PAL available on Performance center v12.21?
