Trousdale County Schools Weekly Lesson Plan Teacher: Canaan Bowman Pacing Guide Week #: 7 Dates: 9/15 – 9/19 5 days Subject: Geometry Common Core Standard(s) to be taught: (Write the entire standard) G.CO.2 Represent transformations in the plane using, e.g., transparencies and geometry software; describe transformations as functions that take points in the plane as inputs and give other points as outputs. Compare transformations that preserve distance and angle to those that do not (e.g., translation versus horizontal stretch). G.CO.4 Develop definitions of rotations, reflections, and translations in terms of angles, circles, perpendicular lines, parallel lines, and line segments. G.CO.5 Given a geometric figure and a rotation, reflection, or translation, draw the transformed figure using e.g., graph paper, tracing paper, or geometry software. Specify a sequence of transformations that will carry a given figure onto another. G.CO.6 Use geometric descriptions of rigid motions to transform figures and to predict the effect of a given rigid motion on a given figure; given two figures, use the definitions of congruence in terms of rigid motions to decide if they are congruent. SPI(s) to be taught: (Write the entire SPI) 3108.3.3 Describe algebraically the effect of a single transformation (reflections in the x- or y-axis, rotations, translations, and dilations) on two- dimensional geometric shapes in the coordinate plane. 3108.4.10 Identify, describe, and/or apply transformations on two and three dimensional geometric shapes. Daily practice activity for citing text based evidence in conversation and/or writing: I Can Statements : Student Agenda: I can identify transformations and determine which are Posted daily but NOT included in Lesson Plan rigid motions and which are not rigid motions. I can identify and apply the properties of reflections. Assessment Strategies (for Stage 1 teachers ONLY): Assessment used to determine mastery daily: If a quiz or test is given, include in the Teacher’s Lesson Plan Notebook. Instructional Materials (for Stage 1 teachers ONLY): All instructional materials are to be included in the Teacher’s Lesson Plan Notebook. Instruction: In outline form, describe each day of instruction. Day 1 Hand back Quizzes and Go over if needed Hand out Study Guides for Test and discuss Performance Tasks Formative Assessment: Observations/questioning during performance tasks Day 2 Test Ch.3 Test Introduction to Transformations HW Day 3 Bell-ringer – Discuss HW Notes over Rigid Motions/Transformations Guided/Independent Practice Problems Bell-ringer – assesses students’ understanding of the content being addressed Observations/questioning during practice problems and notes 1 Day 4 Day 5 Bell-ringer – Intro to Reflections Notes over Reflections Guided/Independent Practice Problems Bell-ringer – assesses students’ prerequisite skills needed for the day’s lesson Observation/Questioning during practice problems and notes Quiz Quiz Constructions of Reflections Observations during constructions of reflections to assess whether students comprehend the concepts over reflections taught in the precious lesson Day 6 Day 7 Alternate Instructional Interventions: Provide a specific plan for alternate instructional interventions, or re-teaching. Students who show difficulty with certain skills/concepts will be assigned additional practice from resources such as Workbook, Infinite Algebra, Interactmath, etc. Instructional technologies to enhance learning: List how each will enhance the effectiveness of the lesson.
