Wicked Walkeringham Summer 2015 Popping Poppies Where’s Wally? Throughout the school children dressed up as characters from Where’s Wally. We all may have been dressed in red and white but everyone looked so different, with extra detail to make them unique. Late morning every class came to the hall for a school picture even the teachers where in it. By the next day you could buy the picture from the office for 1 pound each! Then later on in the afternoon class 3 read to the rest of the school year 5 in pairs and year 6 by themselves By Amie In November (this year) school invited grandparents to come and create a 3D poppy! They started of by looking at Photos of the John Coupland hospital in Gainsborough at WWI. It must have been very sad. After that they started to make their 3D poppies. Ptolemy’s Grandma admitted “I have brought too many art decorations!” At the end, all the poppies were brought into a corridor and put neatly on display. By P.H.Chapman, Thanks to Sharon Gleave we were able to have a running club. Every Tuesday we ran our socks off 45 minutes. Most weeks we often ran a whopping 1 mile. Henry said “I was very tired after running club but it was well worth it”. Sharon then decided to do a netball club and a lot more children turned up for that. Sharron though we were that good she organised a netball match, on Monday 22nd June. We managed to get a team together; Emma Jackson (Captain), Olivia Haywood, Arron Haywood, Ceyleb Blower, Lewis Connolly, Joshua Kerns and Evie Eccles. Once again thanks Sharron we couldn’t do it without you. By Emma Jackson Magical Fairground! Earlier this year; in June 2015 ,Year 5 made a fairground .We all got chosen in pairs or threes then Miss Hogg sent one pair to choose which ride to build, me and Lewis chose a rollercoaster. Then we emptied the packet and split them into the same colours and started to read the instructions, but the words were in German! Hannah’s group finished first with their Ferris wheel. My group finished second with the rollercoaster. Josh’s group finished last because it was complicated; it was called Supersonic Swirl. Georgia said- “it was challenging” Evie said- “it was frustrating” Lexie said – “it was fun” By Arron In July 2014 all the pupils moved up a year for a day to try out our new class which caused mixed emotions for all of the students. We went to our new class and we did rules and then we did jobs e.g. handing out maths books. After that we did our name in tissue paper and made a pattern. Stan said “ it was awesome”. Miss Hogg said it was really good. At the end of the day we returned to our own class and wait until September to move up. Fab football match DARE On the 11th of June 2015 10 people took part in football match Misterton vs. Walkeringham. We played away at Misterton and we had to leave school at 3:15 to kick off at 3:30. we scored 4 goals because we worked as a team. Mrs Reasbeck said; “ I am very pleased with everyone they all put 100% in well done” Olivia said “ I am very proud of myself as I scored 2 goals”, Stanley should also be proud because he scored 2 goals as well. Early in May, we started an interesting subject called DARE. Most people said it was great. At the end of the day everyone was proud; even the parents! Also we should thank Mrs Reasbeck for arranging it for us. Arron said=It was awesome By Olivia Haywood We met the teacher; Mr Warner (who was very funny). He sang little tunes when he was writing and he also told us about his childhood that was funny too. This term I think lots of the students have been really interested in homework and the homework produced has been really good quality and very interesting. Miss Hogg has been blown away with all the baking and effort and the writing. Arron and his granddad make this fabulous Punch and Judy theatre, well done to you both. Georgia said : “I love Fridays because we get to show all are homework ,and look at other peoples things”, I especially liked it when someone made a volcano it was really good because all this red flame came oozing out and it smelt really bad. By Lexie Greek day- Hannah & Rebecca Movie night! In February 2015 there was a film at Walkeringham School. We watched a bug film which involved the moon landing. 3 bugs dreamt that they would go to the moon. 3 enemies tried to stop them. The enemy bugs lost. During the film everyone ate popcorn or sweets. ‘One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind!’ By Lewis On the 29th of April to the 1st of May, Class 2 and 3 went to Dukes Barn. There were lots of instructors, everyone enjoyed it. If it wasn’t for our parents none of us would have gone (because they paid for us to go)! Hannah Lobley said ‘I loved abseiling because; “ I liked doing the flea jump”. Stanley Cropper said “It was worth the money”. Our Instructor was called Colin, he was very funny. My group was the foxes. Mrs Noble said “I love Dukes Barn” On the ride back everyone felt sick, it was a long ride home. By Rebecca Levick Memories of Class 2 Last September, I arrived in class 2, I was extremely nervous but I knew I would be alright. I walked along the hallway. When I got to my new classroom I was astonished how much there was to help you on the walls. I had a tray with my name on it, to put all my things in. I got my things out and sat down. Eventually it was playtime I met lots of friends the first friend that I met was Ella. My teachers were very nice and helpful. We did Maths and Literacy. Months later CJ arrived, at playtime everyone was following her around. I played with her she is a very nice girl. All of a sudden the bell went. It was the end of playtime. Class 2 and 3 went on a trip to Dukes Barn. We went for 3days and 2 nights, it took 2 hours to get their but it was worth it. I am very exited to go into year 4 it will be very exiting, I can’t wait I like it in this class. I am glad to see who is moving into our class. It is going to be epic in year 4!!! By Ruby
