6th Grade Kickball Games Study Guide Rounders Offense There is one kick per inning to start the inning, and that’s it. The kick can go any direction. After the kick, there must always be two runners. The runners’ job is to round the cone in the middle of the gym (anyway possible) and make it back across the black line. You are not considered a runner until you cross the black line. If a runner gets out or crosses the black line, the next person in line must begin running. Each runner runs once per inning. To add up the number of runs you scored in an inning, subtract the number of outs your team made from the total number of players. Defense If you catch a ball on a fly or off the wall/bleachers, the runner is out. Any ball kicked off of the ceiling is also an out. You can get as many outs per inning as possible. If you have the ball in your hand, you can only take 3 steps with the ball. Taking more than three steps requires you to pass the ball to a teammate. If the ball touches a runner at all while they are running, they are out. You may throw the ball or tag a runner to get them out. Colony Ball (6 base Kickball) Offense For every kick, the kicker and any runners on base can advance to the next base. Boundary lines are the same as in baseball/softball. Two strikes and you’re out. Any ball that hits the ceiling is an automatic out. After you kick the ball, you must run the bases in this order: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, then home. You may pass any runner on any of the bases. If a ball touches you while you are off of a base, you are out. Three outs and the inning is over. At the start of the next inning, runners may go back to the base they were at when the previous inning ended Defense If you catch a ball on a fly or off the wall/bleachers, the runner is out. Any ball kicked off of the ceiling is also an out. You may throw the ball or tag a runner to get them out. You may take as many steps as you want while holding the ball. There is only one “force out” and that is at 1st base. To get the runners to stop running, get the ball to your pitcher inside of the center circle. Triangle Ball Offense For every kick, there is only one runner. Kicks may go any direction. After the kicker kicks the ball, they must attempt to round the cone on the right, grab a pin, round the second cone on the left, and touch home plate. If you do not round the cones, you must go back and round the cone you missed in order to score. If you have a pin in your hand and get hit/tagged with the ball, the pin gets set on the ground right where you made the out. The next runner must grab the pin on the ground. If they grab the pin from the box, it is an automatic out. Three outs and the inning is over. Two strikes and you’re out. Any pins remaining on the floor after the third out must be returned to the box. Defense If you catch a ball on a fly or off the wall/bleachers, the runner is out. Any ball kicked off of the ceiling is also an out. If you have the ball in your hand, you can only take 3 steps with the ball and hold the ball for only 2 seconds. Taking more than three steps or holding it for longer than two seconds requires you to pass the ball to a teammate. If the ball touches a runner at all while they are running, they are out. You may throw the ball or tag a runner to get them out.
