A) Cindy has been in a relationship with her boyfriend, Ryan, for 7 months. Recently, Ryan
told Cindy that he feels comfortable taking their relationship to the next level. Cindy
told Ryan that she needed more time to decide if she is ready for sexual intercourse at
this point in her life.

could help Cindy make her decision. Pretend you have the opportunity to advise Cindy.
Apply your knowledge of chastity to the situation. How would you define chastity to
Cindy? How would you explain the connection between chastity and purity of heart and
intention?
B) Recently, Matt read a story in his church newsletter about a man from his parish. This
man suffers from AIDS. The parishioners from Matt’s church are being encouraged to
donate money towards HIV/AIDS research. Matt would like to help but feels
uninformed. What is HIV and AIDS? Could he catch HIV or AIDS if he encounters the
man described in the article?
As a student in Ms. Williams’ Grade 10 Religion class, you have some knowledge which
could help inform Matt. Pretend you have the opportunity to advise Matt. Clarify what
HIV and AIDS are, how HIV is transmitted and how HIV is not spread.
