for encouraging all kinds of speech and language skills. Though not specifically for speech and
language, every SPL seems to be using it. We reviewed it and it is a fabulous app.

31. My PlayHome, by Shimon Young, again not specifically for speech and language, but every
SLP has it on their list. It is the original and best doll house app. Massively interactive, your kids
can explore and use everything in the house. The characters eat, sleep, shower, brush their teeth,
open the closets, watch TV and take showers.

with years of experiencing working with struggling students. The app has both auditory
and visual instructions to engage kids and help them learn. The graphics emphasize the
starting point of each letter and the direction of each letter pattern. The letter formations
are simple and the language describing the letter pattern is straightforward. The graphics
are age neutral and appropriate for all ages. The multi-sensory instruction is perfect for
multiple learning styles. Positive reinforcements provide immediate feedback and

I have used a majority of these apps with my clients. I have found that use of these apps
have motivated my clients to respond to a task that they may have been reluctant to
respond prior. The only thing that can override the Reticular Activating System which
filters out information, is emotion. These apps create an emotional response which
facilitate an opportunity to learn. It has inspired me to create my own app…Junganew: A
Herd of Sounds of which I hope will help the masses of children!
