PROPOSAL FOR EXPLORATORY COURSE MATH 171A The Accelerated Intermediate Algebra course offers Pathway Students individualized and personalized instruction and remediation. The targeted students have taken PreCal or above in HS, but place poorly on the placement exam and will need just-in-time remediation to keep pace with the class, additional workshops and sessions on current material; face challenges organizing and maintaining course materials; complete deep learning objectives; and will receive additional personalized help dealing affective domain issues. B. RUBRICS DISCUSSION New Course Rubric - Carrie Starbird presented the rubrics Where the CEC would fall on the Rubrics. The CEC would need its own rubric. If there is a class that would be considered an elective for the AA in Art area, would it is denied according to the rubric? Armando responded that if there is no need for more qualifying electives into the AA list. If the faculty would like to propose it to the CPR, they will get the feedback. But they are encouraged to look at the rubric before they do. Distance Education Rubric - Katie Datko presented The DE rubric has a preliminary page that explains the stringent requirements mandated by the state regarding DE courses. -The classes that are only taught once a year and have low offerings it is recommended that they discuss it with their dean whether they want to submit for the DE training of their faculty and adjunct professors. - Cynthia Olivo commented that there was that English 47 that was only taught once a year and it submitted for DE. -Katie responded that if the faculty teaching the course is willing to get trained, then they are welcome to submit a form D for DE. -Katie proposed as a change to the rubric that it have checkboxes to make it easier to interpret. -Carrie suggested that the Distance Education Rubric get tabled until further changes are made. - Career Tech Rubric is forthcoming once Salomon Davila has submitted it to the committee.
