Being Fully Dimensional in Your Life

advertisement
To fully understand the six dimensions of
health that determine who we really are.
 To share wisdom of the ages (for those of us
who really weren’t listening or just need a
refresher).
 To see the beauty we often overlook at the
expense of our health and well-being.
 To take back home a new, selfless attitude
that will fuel our co-workers, friends, and
family.


A healthy body
maintained by good
nutrition, regular
exercise, avoiding
harmful habits, making
informed decisions
about health and
seeking medical
assistance when
necessary.
1
• Are you part of the
obesity epidemic?
2
• Do you exercise at least
every other day?
3
• Are you practicing
preventive self-care?

The sense that life is
meaningful and has
a purpose; the
ethics, values and
morals that guide us
and give meaning
and direction to life.
1
• Believing in a higher power
has genuine medicinal
value.
2
• Living by the Serenity Prayer
is cheaper than Cymbalta.
3
• Accepting that we do not
have all the answers is a
sign of real maturity.

A state in which your
mind is engaged in
lively interaction with
the world around
you. It involves
continued learning,
problem solving and
creativity.
1
• Read a good book
lately…with paper pages or
on a Kindle?
2
• “When we stop learning,
we’re dead.” Consider
going back to school.
3
• If you are not challenged at
work, have you considered
volunteering?

The ability to
understand your
own feelings,
accept your
limitations,
achieve
emotional stability
and become
comfortable with
your emotions.
1
• One in ten of us are on
antidepressants. Nearly $125
million is spent in advertising.
2
• One in four women suffer
from depression.
3
• By 2030, more people will
have depression than any
other disease (WHO)

The ability to relate well
to others, both within
and outside the family.
It encourages
contributing to a
healthy community by
supporting a healthy
living environment and
initiating better
communication with
others.
1
• Social isolation has become
the norm. “Won’t you be my
neighbor?”
2
• Emails and text messages
have reduced interpersonal
communication.
3
• “Happy Hours” are selfmedicating us and at times
interfering with medications.

It reflects the fact
that personal health
depends on the
health of the planet.
Environmental
wellness also requires
learning about and
protecting yourself
against
environmental
hazards.
1
• Smoking has decreased
from nearly 1/3rd of us in the
1980s to less than 1/5th now.
2
• Do you recycle? Take a walk
with your dog and a bag.
3
• Avoid “toxic” people. They
increase your cortisol levels.


“I alone cannot change the
world, but I can cast a stone
across the waters to create
many ripples.”

“If we have no peace, it is
because we have forgotten
that we belong to each other.”

“Kind words can be short and
easy to speak, but their echoes
are truly endless.”

“Life is beauty, admire it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life
is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life
is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is
sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a
struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is
an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too
precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it.”

“Live simply so others may simply live.”

“The good you do today may be forgotten
tomorrow. Do good anyway.”

“One of the greatest diseases is to be nobody to
anybody.”
