Administration Update: (Nikki Norris)
o Kathy Kelbaugh is our STAT teacher.
o Several thank you’s for the TV Studios.
o Thank you for the Winter Fun Fest. Jan 25.
o Report Cards will be handed out on Feb 24.
o We received the $2000 grant – project based learning since we want to be a
green school again.
o Front Sign – 2 quotes received. Waiting on a 3rd quote.
o Community projects – collection for MD Food Bank.
o Stakeholder Survey coming out in Feb – asking all parents to do it.
o Kiln for our school that is being given this to us by the County. But the installation
is going to run closer to $8,000 (new quote). PTA does have the funds to
increase the grant to the school. It was moved and seconded that we will spend
money from the Grants to PBE budget line for the kiln.
Teacher Representative Update: (Kathy Kelbaugh) PBETV news crew consists of just 5th
graders. 4th graders have the opportunity to shadow after Easter. Thank you for the TV
Studio. Each homeroom gets a holiday to report on. All classes/students have the chance
to say the Pledge of Allegiance and PBE Pledge. Jean Dixon was supposed to be here,
but Kathy came instead for her. Mrs. Olinger and Mrs. Dixon (2nd Grade) showed on PBE
TV a broadcast about 2nd grade and the wonderful things they can perform on their
devices. The teachers do not want to use the devices all day – they strategically use the

devices throughout the day. A special thank you for the Teacher Holiday Luncheon in
December.
President’s Update: We may go online for the Membership Directory next year. We are
trying to automate the process and do away with paper, save time and labor. Cost of
Directory is paid for by the advertisers – not on PTA budget.
Treasurer’s Update: Our bank account is through M&T Bank. Cash balance of $38,740.
Discussion of switching banks ... PNC, credit union? We need a non-profit account.
