Invisible Man PPT Presentation Rubric
This portion of your grade will be worth 30 points. Your presentation should contain a wealth of information and be easily
understood by your classmates. Each group should take approximately 10 minutes to present their chapters assigned and every
single member of the group needs to do a part of the presentation. You are to work on the PowerPoint together and present it as a
cohesive unit.

__________(5 points) Each member of the group speaks (Note: If someone is not going to be present the day of a
presentation, make sure the group indicates how much participation the absentee has provided)
__________(5 points) The chapters assigned to the group and a summary of each chapter. Make sure there is no detail left
out for each chapter.
__________(10 points) what is symbolic about each chapter and why? What was Ellison trying to establish within these
chapters. A symbol is an object, action, or event that represents something or that creates a range of
associations beyond itself. In Invisible Man how did the symbol(s) express an idea, clarify the meaning of the
chapters, or enlarge literal meaning of the chapters assigned. How did those symbol(s) functions in the chapters
and what does it reveal about the characters or themes in the novel?

__________(5 points) Creativity and entertainment is a MUST! Videos, artwork, graphics, etc. of some sort must be present
in presentation. Humor is a strong point. (Grading will be determined based off of “Guidelines to
a Good Presentation”

Groups will deliver their presentation to class over a period of three days. Students in the audience are expected to take
notes and engage in academic discussion over the presentations where appropriate. Please be a good audience.
One slide of your presentation should contain a list of sources you used – please give credit where credit is due.
Refer to the website for an example of a presentation which has been uploaded to help you.

copy of the presentation. Only one copy of the presentation is needed per group.
