Welcome to the Wonderful World of Chemistry… The study of the composition of matter and the changes it undergoes. During this class: Students will participate in a lot of laboratory activities (I believe we learn science best by doing it!) Students will practice college readiness skills. Students will connect chemistry concepts to the real world. Example of something you’ll be able to explain by the end of the year… We will do this lab later… Meet Ms. Morgan… Graduated from ASU Taught middle school math and science in Mississippi. Students grew 1 year on ACT Assessments in one semester Students grew 2 years in Mathematics in one semester. Student taught and long-term substituted at Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee, Arizona for Biology and Biotechnology classes. Born in South Carolina, grew up in Chicago, went to high school and college in Arizona (Go Sun Devils!), then moved to Mississippi, and now I am back. Big Class Goals… 1. Students will grow 5 Points on the ACT. 2. Students will master all chemistry standards at 80%. 3. Students will apply chemistry concepts to explain natural phenomenon. 4. Students will develop communication, critical thinking, interpersonal, and problem solving skills through laboratory work. Classroom Guidelines… 1.BE SAFE 2.LEARN SOMETHING 3.MAKE FRIENDS 4.HAVE FUN Classroom Website Our classroom website is a work in progress but it is where you can find daily activities and extra practice for concepts.
