Simon Fraser University – Big Change: For Entrance Scholarships the GPA is based on program specific four grade 12 courses (Earlier it was English 12 and 3 best Gr. 12 courses). St. Francis Xavier University: 4200 students. Small campus. 90% of first year students live on campus. They are on the hunt for a new President. Small town feel. Profs. Thompson Rivers University: 10,000 students on campus. International students from over 100 countries. Hard deadline to apply for nursing is January 15. For open admission programs the early deadline is March 1 and regular deadline is April 30. Students can take a lot of courses at Dalhousie. Well known for two things- 1. Journalism- Bachelor of Journalism with Honours. One year of Journalism. Masters of Journalism. 2. Foundation Year- Interdisciplinary. English , Philosophy, Sociology, History etc. in first year. New- Masters in Fine Arts. University of Manitoba: Most students go into University 1. This allows students to experience class before choosing a program. Most faculties require minimum marks in University 1 in order to apply. Students can take any program from this except Music and Fine Arts. Engineering is a lot more competitive. Needs 85% GPA. Arts tuition is only $3800.Guaranteed scholarship program- with 95 to 100% GPA receive $3000 in scholarship. So combined with this tuition comes to under $1000. Students must self-report and provide the final mark. University of Ontario Institute of Technology: Oshawa. Two campuses in Oshawa. Fairly new school. Opened 10 years ago. All students get a laptop every two years. At the end of studies, can buy it for a dollar. Suspended: Concurrent Education Program. Residence guaranteed for first year students. Apply June 2nd. Will accept marks for online courses provided there is an official transcript from the provider. Note: The western universities that were present said they will accept online courses provided they are completed by June 30. 50% of the mark must be completed by April 30th so that they can appear in the TRAX.
