The book is presented this year to: Julia Gallagher Certificate The Rensselaer Medal was first presented in 1916 with two purposes: to recognize the superlative achievement of young men and women and to motivate students toward careers in science, engineering, and technology. Each medalist who is accepted and subsequently enrolls at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute receives a special medalist scholarship worth $60,000 over 4 years. The medal is presented each year to a junior who has excelled in math and science.
