Writing Prompt: Consider the events that unfolded in Rwanda during the spring months in 1994. Also, reflect on how Elie Wiesel explained the series of circumstances that he faced in the Holocaust from 1944-1945. Compare and contrast both stories: where are there similarities and differences in their struggle? Focus particularly on Paul Rusesabagina (in Hotel Rwanda) and Eliezer of Sighet (in Night). Analyze how each story of struggle proves the inhumane acts of genocide and how we, as a society, bear responsibility. Furthermore, evaluate why it is imperative that students should read the novel, Night. Exploring further, why should all people read Night. Evaluate the impact that the reading could or should have on the reader and the relevance of the content in our current lives (What is Wiesel attempting to accomplish?
