Warm up

Part A: Check your answers for your homework.

1. Sentence. The word dinosaur means “terrible lizard.”

Peer Details Questions

• Rotate spirals within your groups.

• Use the post it notes to ask three clarifying questions that will help your colleagues add details to the character sketches.

• Example: If my partner’s character sketch had a section that said, “My hero is really fast. He runs really fast to help save people from evil people.” A clarifying question might be, “How fast is really fast? Can you compare it to something?”

• Place the post it notes on page 12 of your colleagues’ spiral and hand it back.

• Do you think replacing the banned words will make your character sketch a better piece of writing?

Explain.

• Homework : Replace all of the banned words in your character sketches. You can use a different color pen to cross out the words and write new ones in the margins.
