Jimmy Page Handout D.O.B is January 9th, 1944 Born in West England suburb of Heston Born and raised by James and Patricia Page Father worked as an Industrial Personnel Manager Mother worked as a Doctor’s Secretary Attended Sutton Art College in Surrey in 1975 First started playing at the age of 12 Took few lessons but mostly self taught Early influences were Scooty Moore and James Burton Later influences were folk players Bert Jansch and John Renbourn and blues players Elmore James and B.B. King First guitar was a 1959 Futurama Grazioso Now plays a his own custom Gibson Les Paul Quit school at 14 to join “The Crusaders” In ‘64, Jimmy was offered to replace Eric Clapton in “The Yardbirds” but declined In ‘65, Clapton quit and Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck joined the group In ’66, Beck quit and Page hired Robert Plant on vocals and John Bonham on drums and took Keith Moon’s advice and changed the name from “The Yardbirds” to “Led Zeppelin” Produced multiple top selling records such as “Stairway to Heaven” and “The Song Remains the Same” Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980 after the death of drummer John Bonham at Page's home. Jimmy had gone solo and to produce his new album “Outrider” with Geffen Records He has also worked with multiple modern day artists such as The Foo Fighters and Jeff Beck and The Black Crows Q Merit Award (1992) AMA International Artist Award (1995) Inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1995) Nominated Artist of The Year in Radio Music Awards (2005) Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (2005) Polar Music Prize (2006) Nomination in Shockwaves NME Award for Best Music DVD (2008)
