Topics include bank reconciliation, discounts, taxes, installment buying, payroll, insurance, depreciation, and interest. Prerequisites: Math 085 with a C or higher Instructional Methods Used The class will be administered in an on-line format through Canvas. As such, you will be required to use a greater amount of self-discipline and independent effort than you might otherwise use in a normal face-to-face format. Assignments will be from the textbook, worksheets and Connect, an on-line tool. Students must purchase a Connect code in order to fulfill the requirements of the course. It is important that you spend the required amount of time to read each assigned chapter and complete problems to understand the math concepts being introduced. Textbooks & Supplemental Materials Textbook: PRACTICAL BUSINESS MATH W/CONNECT PLUS ACCESS CARD by Jeffrey Slater, 11th Full Edition. (Note : You can buy a used book without the code and purchase the code online at the publisher’s website – credit/debit card required. Other Supplies: Notebook paper, pencils, erasers, and calculator. Graded work, not on Connect, will be graded within one week of submission. Quizzes/Tests Quizzes and Tests will be assigned and completed on Connect and will be timed. Calculators are allowed.
