Gender and Development/Feminist Political Economy
The International Affairs Program at Northeastern University invites applications for a
tenure-track professorship, at either the assistant or associate level, effective July 1, 2013, in
the field of gender and development or feminist political economy. Applicants with a Ph.D.
in disciplines including Economics, Demography, Political Science, Sociology, Geography,
History and Feminist Studies are invited to apply. Knowledge of both quantitative and
qualitative research methods, along with developing country/Global South expertise, is
required. Experience in teaching, research and professional service should be commensurate
with that expected in a research-oriented University in which there is a strong commitment to
instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will be
appointed jointly, with a tenure home in one of the disciplinary departments in the College of
Social Sciences and Humanities.

The International Affairs Program has over 700 undergraduate majors, five faculty members
(currently tenured in Political Science and Sociology) and two academic specialists, along
with affiliated faculty from across departments. A rigorous curriculum and an emphasis on
international experiences, foreign languages, and global awareness are hallmarks of the
Program. The successful candidate will also teach in the planned MA degree program in
International Affairs, which will have a gender and development track.
