3. Open Discussion (Adrian Beck)
The group had an informative discussion on Shrink management using Myer as a case study. Some interesting points were raised
with regards to the effectiveness of the Myer strategy. The following main points were raised:
Loss prevention strategies should start at the top.
The Myer marketing approach was professional and simple with the effective use of memorable slogans and examples.
A well-defined target was made clear to all employees.
The loss prevention strategy included a comprehensive, consistent, clear message and embedding of the strategy in both everyday
activities as well as in the organisational culture.
4.
Staff Morale/Satisfaction and Shrinkage Project
Megan provided an update on the new project. Currently, there are 3 retailers participating in the research. Most of the data has
been received but some requires manual input. Data then needs to be cleaned before analysis can be undertaken. The aim is have
the analysis complete before the ECR Conference (14/15 May).
Megan also provided and update on the benchmarking tool and the new Shrink Group website. It was decided that the website
should be published online by 15th May.
