qualified North Carolina high school eleventh and twelfth grade students to get ahead of
preparing for their career and/or the completion of college credits.

Obstacles & Challenges
• Scheduling Classes – Smaller schools don’t necessarily have the
resources to offer needed classes in a compressed time frame.
• Transportation – Getting and maintaining reliable transportation for
students to make it to the college and work.
• Gender diversity within the program.
• Course selection that would support both Caterpillar’s business need
and that are attractive to the student as transferrable to other schools
and relate to Caterpillar career paths.
• Managing the logistics of the program – the manpower needed to
create the program and keep it going should not be underestimated.
