Legacy Midas is one of a number of core banking applications used in production to support
banking operations within the Wells Fargo Hong Kong and Taiwan branches.
The Legacy Midas system is an old version of the Midas product built during the mid-1980s and
originally licensed from the vendor Misys. It was initially designed and run on the IBM system
36 mid-range machine and now runs on the IBM iSeries in S36 mode. The central platform is the
IBM iSeries e-server. The development platform is RPG. Legacy Midas uses both the iSeries
integral DB2/400 database management system and QS36 flat files in its database.

Midas Plus is a product of MISYS international. Wells Fargo uses Midas Plus for its businesses
and individuals who can create transactions using products such as FXOL, GPS (ACH) and
Buffet to do trades, make payments, send wires, etc. in foreign currencies. The transactions are
posted to Midas Plus during the business day individually or in batches, depending on the source.
At the end of the day a close of business (COB) is run and the Midas Plus postings are sent to
various downstream partners to do reconciliation, general ledger, customer portal, anti-money
laundering, reporting and other processing. Some data is also sent intraday to support intraday
customer portal activity.

The purpose of this project is reduce potential MTM errors resulted from benefit
configuration and mapping mismatch, OTS, IPP, DST and IT have worked together to
redesign PMHS ME1044 screen and Blue Exchange system (BX) so that BX will no longer
use external maintained service files to calculate benefit codes, which are used for returning
member benefits. Instead, enhancements to RF1011 and ME1044 screens will be made to
store BX service types so that benefit codes could be retrieved directly from ME1044 screen.
This document contains the system features that BCBSVT needs to implement so that the
current BX programs and the Accumulator program for MWP, EOB and Data Warehouse on
I-Series can effectively use the benefit codes as well as message codes stored on ME1044 and
RF1011 screens to retrieve correct benefit code and return accurate member benefit
information.

IT Accumulators is Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association’s Inter –Plan system give support to
other selected systems.
This project which will increase the efficiency of the MWP
Accumulators without changing or negatively impacting the data that is currently available to
support the MRC, PRC, and EOBs. In order to satisfy the requirement to include information
regarding Member Benefit Limits and Usage, the decision was made as part of the Member
Resource Center (July 2010) to clone the existing Blue Exchange Accumulator logic. This
increase in efficiency should reduce the run time from eight hours to two hours which is within
the norm for a process that is run on a daily basis. The Blue Exchange program is used to
generate member benefit limits and remaining usage as part of the electronic eligibility inquiry
and response process (270/271).

Testing Environment Creation Utility (TECU) is a testing tool that facilitates rapid and
focused testing of core banking systems. The tool creates a smaller subset of your existing
production or test environment, while sanitizing the data sufficiently to be in compliance with the
privacy and audit policies in force.
By using TECU, the newly created test environment will be significantly smaller than the existing
production environment. This will facilitate rapid testing of the core banking system, while
providing you with identical production environment conditions. The productivity gain is
significant, both in terms of reducing project duration from shorter test cycles as well as
significantly reducing the requirement for expensive disk space. By using less disk space, you can
