Megan Freeman Informative Speech Tues/Thurs 9:30am Justin Bieber SP: I want to inform my speech class about the impressive life of Justin Bieber. Introduction: I. (Attention Getter) What artist was born in Canada, can play the trumpet, piano, drums and guitar extremely well, is more “Google searched” than Jesus, and has so many female fans that most of the male population hates him? JUSTIN BIEBER II. (Audience Relevance) For those of you who may not like his music, I understand; however, I feel that you should at least listen about his personal information to find out what a warm, kind-hearted and talented man he is. A. He has an interesting and an eventful life that most of us would kill for. B. His dream wasn’t handed to him, he worked hard at it and he just may spark a little drive in yourself to reach a goal that you might have. III. (Credibility Statement) As a huge “Belieber” myself, it was hard to actually look up information that I hadn’t already known, but I did and am even more impressed and in love than ever. Central Idea: I’m here to inform my speech class not only about Justin Bieber’s small town home life versus his famous life, about his musical talents and abilities, but also about his personality that truly does make him a superb role model and boyfriend..(just kidding, I wish). (Link: Honestly, there are endless wonderful things I could say about Justin, but since this speech only has a maximum of six minutes, I’ll just cut to the chase and start with his past and present home life.) Body: I. Bieber had a small town feel to his life up until he met Usher in February of 2008 and his life started to change dramatically. A. Justin’s mom, Patty Malette, had him when she was only 17 years old (Andrea Grimes Interviewer of “Leave it to Bieber”). 1. They didn’t have a lot of money to spare. 2. His young parents split when he was a baby, no secure father figure. 3. He was very close to his grandparents and lived with them most of the time. B. After meeting with Usher in 2008 and signing with him in 2009, Bieber went huge. 1. He now resides in Atlanta, Georgia right next to his recording studio. 2. Justin makes $300,000 every concert he participates in (“How Rich is Bieber”). a. Not only does he make money from concerts, but he has two women’s fragrance lines, a nail polish line, all the merchandise his fans buy and every interview and TV show he appears at adds up as well. b. He still lets his mom manage most of his earnings. (Link: Although Justin is rolling in cash now, it hadn’t always been that way and therefore, he had to teach himself his musical abilities and this truly qualifies him as a well-rounded musician.) II. Justin taught himself how to play all four instruments and he never had any voice lessons. A. He became famous from YouTube purely from his talents as a young and aspiring artist. B. He can sing pop, R&B, acoustic, and he raps! C. As said earlier, he learned how to play the drums, guitar, trumpet and piano all by himself and kept building on his talents until he reached his dream. (Link: Not only has Justin reached his own dream, but he travels the world and helps others reach their own.) III. Bieber has a big heart and always acts on kindness. A. He had a favorite little girl named Avallana Routh who had a serious form of brain cancer (Stephanie Marcus from The Huffington Post). 1. She was known as “Mrs. Justin Bieber”. 2. He visited her any chance he got before she passed in Septemeber. B. He gives his fans free concert tickets. C. He retweets his followers on twitter to let them know he cares what we think. (Link: And again, for those of you know may dislike Justin, think again because he is a really great person, he just gets a lot of girls!) Conclusion: I. Even though I could go on forever, I’ll end with a recap of stating that Justin struggled for his dream life apart from his normal life, he is very talented no matter if you like his music or not and he is such a nice, giving person. II. So, I’m not saying you need to jam to his music, but don’t say you don’t like him as a person if you haven’t given him a chance. He’s got good intentions; he entertains and he cares, and a lot of artists can learn from his meaningful perspectives. Reference Page Grimes, Andrea. "Leave It to Bieber." MPIweb. N.p., 7 Aug. 2012.
